Bringing Canadiana to my American friends

Sour Patch Kids: Be sure to squeeze a few bags to find the softest ones on the shelf.

Butter tarts: Vachon makes a conveniently packaged snack-size option.

KD (Kraft Dinner): sure they technically have it state-side, but it's boring old "Kraft macaroni and cheese" there and apparently its only available in the classic orange variety.

Double-Double: Granted, you can't transport liquid coffee, but geesh help solve a cross-border pet peeve of mine. Of course I can order a Double-Double in St. Stephen NB. Why is it that just spitting distance across the river in Calais ME, they look at me like I have lobsters crawling out of my ears if I slip and order at Dunkin' Donuts as I would at Tim's?! 2 cream + 2 sugar...double-double...augh!

Rappie Pie: Acadian comfort food that my wife thoroughly enjoys. I, on the other hand, equate gelatinous potatoes with "blech!"

My American besties love Hawkins Cheezies, Hickory Sticks, Smarties, Coffee Crisps, packets of Swiss Chalet dipping sauce mix, and the small bottles of Maple Syrup. But the Hawkins Cheezies definitely top them all.

LOVE Hawkins Cheezies!!!! YUM!

Coffee Crisp, KitKat (yes they have them in the US but they taste different and are awful down there!!), Smarties, Ketchup Chips, Mr Maple/Maple Leaf cookies

Peameal bacon !!! They don't have it at all in the USA! We freeze it and bring it down with us, along with smoked salmon, candied salmon and different types of meats and kolbassas.

Make sure about taking any meat products to USA. I know most of it if not all of it is not allowed, will be confiscated and there could be a possible fine. Ever since that mad cow disease quite a few years ago they have been very strict. My DH even had his can of pork and beans confiscated because there was meat in it. I was allowed to take canned salmon, but not meat.

You can bring any Canadian packed meat except lamb. You can even bring wild game but there are procedures to follow
Food products from Canada, including pet food and fresh (frozen or chilled), cooked, canned or otherwise processed products containing beef, veal, bison, and cervid (e.g. deer, elk, moose, caribou etc.) are now permitted from Canada in passenger baggage. Products containing sheep, lamb, or goat will not be allowed entry. Food products should be commercially packaged and sealed with ingredients listed in English.

I'm bringing my friend Smarties. Their Smarties are nothing like our. I think the equivalent of US Smarties here is Rockets? Those awful candies warped in cello that look like mini Tums most freq handed out for Halloween :crazy2:
I don't think they get Cadbury choc bars either. US has Peanut Butter cups but they taste different
If I can find a way to pack Hawkins, I'm going to bring those too.
