Bringing Backpacks in us

:goodvibes I have never had any issues with the backpack.I always carry in water, juice boxes and some crackers and cereal bars. They sometimes will jokingly say"can I have some"? :surfweb:

They usually allow a smaller soft sided cooler with a few items.

The thing about bringing a backpack into the park, is you have to carry it everywhere. It's better to travel light.

yep, we always take food in our backpack with us, they might check the bag thou, sercuity reasons. thou they most likely wont say anything about the food, maybe make a joke

You also have to store it in a locker for MIB, Mummy, and a couple others, I think. Not a huge pain in the a$$ but something to remember....

I agree going light with no bp, is the better approach. Eating at all the restaurants is really part of the experience and you shouldn't miss that for a granola bar in your BP. You can carry a bottle of water and re-fill it at spots to save some money, but other than that I would recommend eating at the park spots, plus the restaurants at Universal and IOA are all great!!! Not your typical theme park food at all. Don't miss it! Mythos, Enchanted Tavern, Seafood restaurants at the old park, and Jimmy Buffets are all terrific food!

Universal actually encourages guests to bring backpacks and snacks!

Snacks and drinks are always handy to have with you when exploring the theme parks. You can carry them with you in a backpack or shoulder bag. Be aware that your bag will be inspected by Security before you enter the theme parks, and you may have to check it in a rental locker before boarding certain thrill rides and roller coasters.

PLEASE NOTE: Coolers are not permitted in either theme park.

We were just there for a week and the ONLY time security checked our backpack was the first day. There was one man standing at the end of the path that leads from HRH and US and he seemed to only randomly call people over one at a time as they passed by. I never saw anyone else checking the whole time we were there. Very different from the long lines going into the Disney parks.

The main bag check is in the hub area. The Hub is the area that you enter after parking your car and before you enter Citywalk. When you stay onsite you miss that area. There is security who are checking bags from the hotels but someimes that is hit or miss.

Oh, I guess that's why I didn't see much of the security checks going on. Since we stayed onsite, I never came in through the parking garage. Even so, we were only stopped the one time during the whole week to check our bag.
