We are cruising this fall and were planning on bring a bottle of rum onboard with us but were wondering if it would be easier to order a basket from Shirley (A Perfect Gift) with a bottle in it among other goodies or to pack it through the airports and everything ?

I don't think you will be allowed to carry on alcohol. Bags are searched and xrayed now, I can't imagine that you could sneak it in.

I can guarantee that if you pack it in your bag it will break

You are perfectly welcome to bring liquor onboard. My friends mailed their liquor to the ship. We brought our own wine & paid the corkage fee gladly. We drank the wine we liked rather than paying about the same price through Disney for wine we didn't like that much.

Happy sailing! :boat: :drinking1

It wouldn't be "sneeking it in". You are allowed to carry on 5 liters as long as it is lower than 70 proof (which it would be). Was just wondering if it would be easier to have it waiting for us or to carry it with us.

We took 2 bottles of wine, a bottle of rum and a bottle of gin. We packed them in our luggage. We had no problem at all traveling or bringing them onboard. My big fear of breakage was our first night on board with the rough seas. I could hear the bottles rolling around. DH had to get up and put them in a draw with our clothes.

On the 1/8 cruise there was a sign up - No Alcohol. I didn't ask about it because we don't bring anything aboard but we wondered if they had changed their policy. In the past you could carry on beer, wine, etc. Please don't pack it in checked luggage - the clothes you ruin may not just be yours. On our Jan. 04 cruise when one of our bags arrived - there was liquid (smelled like beer) rolling around inside of it. Luckily my 2 brand new evening skirts soaked up most of it and protected my husband and sons brand new suits from damage. DCL did clean the skirts for me at no charge and I scrubbed the suitcase in the tub and put it out on the verandah. Not the best way to start a cruise

We had SHirley do this for us. In addition to the children's baskets, we had one basket with Corona, and another with a couple bottles of wine. We felt this was the easiest way to go, and would do it this way again. We also fly in, so through the airports would not be an easy task, the weight, the factor of breaking, etc etc.

Shirley made the baskets very well, and one could not see any alcohol until it was unwrapped and open. You also get to choose what wine you would like. SHe is so fun, and easy to work with.

Just my opinion.... :D

I just spoke to DCL and she said that "Yes, you may bring beer, wine, etc onboard, there will be a $12 corkage fee if you want to bring your our bottle to dinner." She also said that the sing in the terminal that states No Alcohol, means you can not consume alcohol in the terminal.

Just wanted to clarify this for myself and everyone else.

Enjoy your cruise
