Bringing a small soft cooler on the plane

We're planning on bringing a small soft cooler on the plane with us Saturday filled with sandwiches and snacks.
We've done that for the past 7 years with no problem.
The past 2 years we've used frozen grapes too keep things cool and fresh.
Has anybody been bringing a cooler with them on the plane recently?
What have you been using to keep things cool and fresh?

The only issue is what's in the cooler.

Ice, ice packs and any "gels or liquids" in excess of 3 oz will not be allowed (unless there are legit medical supplies that require cooling). Anything else is pretty much OK.

We were going to bring our soft cooler (flexi-freeze) with a built in ice-packs... Now I am second guessing myself and wonder if they won't be allowed because even though the walls of the cooler are what freeze it still must be a gel of some type.

Glad I caught this thread and got to thinking about it. I guess we will just stick to not cold type snacks.
