bringing a lifejacket for 2year old

I was wondering if anyone has brought a life vest for a 2 year old with them on the cruise to take to the beach, or is it waste of time and space packing it.

we always pack swim gear for our kids they take lessons every week since they were 3 months old but still feel comfortable in their gear ... the 2 yr old wears a innertube that is sewn into a shirt (swimways makes them) and the 3 yr old wears a float ... I do pack a mini bicycle pump from my mountian bike to inflate the innertube but all in all they take up no space and my 3 yr old wore her stuff in the pool ... the 2 yr old was exiled to that silly mickey ear but she liked it

Can't say about the vest but I can say that the family beach at Castaway Cay is shallow for a good ways out so there's plenty of space for the 2 yo to play before the water gets deep enough to wear a life jacket. I think I would opt for leaving it at home.

i also pack a pair of floaties for my little guy to use in the resort pools and on board (i just buy a new set for 99 cents and walmart and toss them out before we return home).

I think at Castaway Cay, they let you borrow the life vests for free. I know we were able to do this last Sept 2003. You would probably have to get there early though.

I think, it depends on what your 2 year old is planning on doing. We took a lifevest for our 3 year old last year because we were going snorkling at Grand Cayman and I felt more comfortable using our own stuff. She went out in the ocean at Stingray city with it. We also used in Cozumel at the dolphin encounter. However, we did not use it at the ship pool or even Castaway Cay. We always bring all our own snorkel gear with we travel. We have a special bag for it. It does take up space but we prefer to use our own equipment.
