I read the Universal Studios guidelines and they have specific dimensions for a cooler that can be brought in, but I was wondering if anyone had experience with bringing coolers and food into US?

Do they have a security line like at Disney parks? What have you brought in without issue?

I've never been to US and I'm getting nervous about bringing mu DS alone without access to his foods. HE is ASD and will only eat what he has in his cooler.

Thanks

You can't bring rolling coolers into the park. If you do have a rolling cooler, you can put it in the large lockers outside the turnstiles. A backpack with snacks would be ok. You can also leave a large cooler in the trunk of your car and go back to your car to retrieve food. I would just pack the essentials in a backpack.

We just got back from Universal and brought in a lot of food, with no problems. We packed a softpack cooler with sandwiches, kept cold with a frozen water bottle (which we drank later after some had melted) and another small soft pack with a few water bottles. We also had snacks: cookies, fruit bars, apples etc. It was a bit heavy to carry around, but my dh carried it ;) We ate at the Hog's Head Pub while we had butterbeer and pumpkin juice. When the guy looked through our bags I explained that we had food allergies in the family and he said "You are allowed to bring any food you want into the parks, I just have to look through everything."

In my experience I have had less bag checks when I stay onsite. When you stay offsite and come from city walk you go through a more rigorous bag check. The multiple times we've stayed onsite there is a lone guy standing at a cart where the walkway meets the city walk entrance. He peered in our bag past all the towels and wallets and sent us on our way.

However city walk I have always had a rigorous "UNZIP AND UNBUTTON EVERYTHING!" check.

I'm not condemning either way, I am perfectly fine with bag checks. I'd rather them be safe than sorry but thats just my experience. And like said above with the coolers...
