Bring the dog? Don't bring the dog?

The loops designated as PET LOOPS have poop bag stations in several locations. Not sure if 1400 has these or not, but that is about the only amenity that would make a loop "pet friendly". But they will assign pet into any loop if the pet loops are full. I would hope for the outer loop in 1400.

As far as the hard sided camper I know that used to be the case, but I thought I read something where in the last 3 to 5 years pop ups with tent sides were O.K., but tents were still a no no. One might want to double check on this and I just don't have the reference to the change handy.

Our last trip to the Fort was Thanksgiving 2009. We were parked right across from some folks in a pop up with a dog who barked non stop the first night we were there. Saw security over there a couple of times. For some reason, the rest of the trip, we never heard the dog again. Maybe they were locals who took the dog home or maybe they ended up boarding the dog. Either way, I was grateful not to have to hear that dog. You could hardly hold a conversation the noise was so bad. We have owned several dogs and I love them. We tried taking our last dog, a German Shepherd/Keeshound mix that we adopted when she was 5 years old, camping ONCE. She was NOT a good or happy camper. Fortunately our vet also ran a kennel and we were happy knowing that she was well taken care of while we camped or vacationed. They loved her and she loved them. It was a win win situation for everyone.

There are no doggie bags in Loop 1400. But plenty of trashcans to throw them into:-) We brought our own bags...

I would like to try vacationing with Laci K!! Too, I'm sure she'd love to go along instead of staying home when we travel, and we've been trying think of a place to vacation and be able to take her.

The problem with FW wouldn't be our Mini Schnauzer, it would be (and is) convincing my DH to stay there. I've stayed in the cabins with my sis and her family and LOVED Fort Wilderness. DH went camping lots as a kid though, so staying at the Fort doesn't say "Disney Vacation" to him...

...but I'm gonna keep trying! :thumbsup2

Before DW and I bought a camper, never in my wildest dreams would I have considered vacationing at the Fort.
Yes, we were aware of the Fort and had seen bits and pieces of the Fort, but it wasn't something that remotely interested me.
Then we got our camper and figured okay, reck'n we'll try the Fort. It absolutely blew us away ! It was unlike anything we ever experienced before,,it felt like we finally returned home, and I'm not talk'n bout the house you live in, I mean the home that you always dreamed about in another time, a time of days gone by, when time was slower, easier, a time to relax, a time when meeting your neighbors was a pleasure, a time when you leave all the stress of todays rat race behind.
I reck'n you have to hava taste of it to understand what I mean.
I do hope you and hubby will try it.

Thanks for sharing! We don't own a camper, but I thought about renting one for FW. Even to get him to stay in the cabins -- I told him then he wouldn't have a bunch of kids running up and down the hall making noise!

Someday!!

Just a thought (because of the title of this thread), dogs aren't allowed in the cabins. Keep the thought of the rental, but you may find the same thing.
