5 months from today!!!!!

So today is not Disney related, but I couldn't let this time pass without mention. And what is that time you ask? It's SUFGIE ('soof-gee) TIME!!!!!! That would be my fond nickname for sufganiyot (soof-gon (as is in honor)-nee- 'yoat), the traditional doughnut of Chanuka.
Now growing up in the States I only knew jelly doughnut variety. But here in the Holy Land the bakeries like to shake things up. Of course the classics are the strawberry jam and dulce de leche varieties with powdered sugar on top, but you can also find all sorts of other delicious fillings. Just one of the perks of living in Israel. When I first discovered this let's just say I went a little overboard. It's easy to do since you can see sufgies about a month (or sometimes a little longer than that) before Chanuka, not to mention on chanuka itself.
And so about 3-4 years ago I came up with a plan. No sufgies until Chanuka and then on Chanuka itself I can have one each day. And I've been pretty good at that. Well ok I did cheat once this year. About 3 weeks ago I was exiting a shopping center and by the bus stop there was one of the sufgie bakeries that I enjoy. Ok FINE, I might have taken a few steps forward from the bus stop to actually get to that bakery. It's not my fault though, I was just following my nose! Actually I was curious as to whether they started to roll out their specialty sufgies so that I could plan accordingly. They were and one of the sufgies on display had a bright orange topping that I couldn't ignore. It turns out that it was a sufgie with passion fruit/mango cream with a white chocolate and coconut topping. I couldn't help myself so I bought one. And it was yummy! But it was just the one. Now that Chanuka is upon us it's time to really indulge.
So this morning I was after a night shift. I found out beforehand that another of the sufgie bakeries I enjoy opens at 7:30, so I decided to head on over there after work. The place is only a few bus stops away from work and I have a 90 minute transfer window to get on a bus back home. When I got to the bakery the delivery truck was there to deliver all the freshly made goodies. I waited and waited and waited some more until they started to bring out the sufgies. At first it was the classic strawberry jam. I sat across the street on a bench, listened to a Radiolab podcast, and waited for the rest to come out all the while keeping an eye on my watch. At long last it was time!!!! After some pondering I settled on 4 flavors. I present to you Salted Caramel with dulce de leche topping, Poppyseed (a fave of mine from last year), Lemon Pie, and Halva (sesame seed paste with honey, it is delicious):
