Bring Laptop?

I was wondering if it's safe to bring my laptop because I heard it was useful to bring so you can upload your pictures on to it at the end of each day. I am doing the land/sea package and I have the vacation insurance. I was just wondering if the laptop will fit in the safe (doubting it will) or if there is another way to keep it safe. Any help is appreciated.

P.S. I have an iBook and it's pretty small but I'm still doubting it will fit in the safe but you never know. :)

it really depends on were you are staying, when we stayed at POP we had more than enough room in the safe for are ibook but ever resort has a different shape and size safe.

I've stayed at AKL during business trips and brought my Sony VAIO. It doesn't fit in the safe, but I just left it on the sidetable without incident when I was away. Housekeeping didn't touch it when they came to clean the room.

Is there internet access in POP? I want to bring my laptop too but if I could upload some of the pics online then we could share them with family while we are down there. I don't have dial up on the laptop so I'd have to use the hotel's internet access if they have it.

Laugh O Gram I love your picture! Mikey you're so money and you don't even know it! :teeth:

We always bring our laptop and/or tablet pc to WDW. We have done this for years and stayed at values to deluxes and never lock them up and have never had a issue.
We always download our pictures every night and see which ones we might want to try again on the next day.
My DH also has to check emails every day so it is essential.

We always just leave our laptops siting on the table. Never had a problem at the numerous hotels we have stayed in. Ours are covered by our homeowners insurance even when traveling. You might check into that if you plan to travel with yours often.

We have mobile wireless service and get internet connections that way at the ASMu. We get better signal strength at the Poly than the AS's. Maybe you can look into that.

POP only has dial up access. I would invest in a computer cable lock. They are usually less than $20.

I am not so trusting to leave a laptop out in plain site in any hotel room. Laptops are too easy to steal.

I'm not so trusting. I have a cable lock I got at Best Buy for about $29. Worth the peace of mind. If I'm in a hotel room where I can't find a place to loop it around (where it can't be slipped off), I lock it in my suitcase.

We brought a laptop and left it out every day at CBR. Didn't think twice about it. It was great to upload pictures and wipe out the camera (we also had 2 other families with us that uploaded too). On the transition day from WDW to the cruise we left from Animal Kingdom and left the computer with the cruise people at AK. We had no problems doing this.

DH brings our laptop, we transfer the digital pics to it every night and delete them off the memory card! That way I have an empty card for the following day! Since I take AT LEAST 1000 pics each trip this is the way to go for us!! The laptop sits on the table and its never been touched. :confused3

We do not connect to the internet with it because its set up for a cable modem.

Thanks for the tips. I really think I'm going to bring it but buy one of those safety chords just in case. Thanks!!

You could sign up for a free juno/netzero account just for the duration of your vacation.

If your ISP is Roadrunner, they have local Orlando numbers that you can dial to, so you might check with your ISP and see if they have the something similar. It'll just cost you the price of a local call (75 cents per call) but if it's important to stay connected it may be worth it to you.
