True. I think he is conveying that it is marketed as a luxury property and charges cash rates for rooms than correspond with that.

Well there is a difference. I have stayed there on a cash reservation. I understand when I do this, some of the $$ I spend is to keep the maintenance dollars down for the people that do own. I am good with that.

And staying in the cheapest room and expecting the same luxury is kind of a bit misleading. Wonder what his revue would have been if he had stayed in a 1 BR and just showed pic's of the Tower studios.

Ouch. I’m one that thinks the tower portion is the only thing that makes the grey box look good and worth staying in. Only fun designed item. Should have put a tower at each corner.

He wasn't impressed with DVC either. I get it, when we paid cash at Grand Floridian years ago we thought it was similarly a "rip off". Disney do charge some eye watering prices. I also agree that Riviera isn't thematically enhanced like resorts from the 90s. All that said, I really like it and would choose it any day over Beach Club or Boardwalk. I like it being a tower, I like the skyliner, and love the rooms.

I like his content overall, but he's complained about Riviera's theming on Twitter since it opened. He was chasing views for this one—purposely picking the tower studio, nitpicking everything like the basic Disney bedding that's at every resort (no turn down service? ), ignoring the artwork and murals he would have pointed out at every other Disney resort, comparing it to Caribbean Beach (), pontificating if the marble tile was real, the LED light fixtures, etc.

Something I've never heard anyone say at Disney, "I wish this resort was more like Caribbean Beach."

He's a smart guy and knows he could have rented points to save money. He knows what amenities you don't get at a Disney resort too.

RIV is almost 4 years old, get over it. If you prefer the "classic" Disney resorts, which I personally do, just stay at them. Riviera is never going to be Wilderness Lodge or the Polynesian. Those days are over.

On another note, if Disney would have went through with building Antoine Predock's Mediterranean Hotel, as mentioned, it would look just as junky today as Disneyland Paris's Hotel Santa Fe. Disney had to retheme it to Cars to get people to even stay at it.

I rolled my eyes at the instant DVC dismissal as well. Disney vacations are not “good financial decisions”… they are vacations! And people, like my family, who vacation at Disney frequently and stay at Disney properties are significantly better off with DVC than paying cash if we can afford to do so.

I reminded myself that this is a childless 20 something staying in the worst Riveria room possible on cash… with a beautiful voice and great video editing skills.

If they don't quit hiking direct buy-in prices, that may change. But I haven't ether.

This video feels like it was made 3 years too late. Riveria hate is so 2019-20. And this is coming from a certified #RivieraHater

Also Disney resorts are not and never were luxury hotels so I found it odd that he kept referring to Riviera as one.

That I would disagree with. The Venetian was going to be another large, expansive resort similar to Poly just with an Italian theme complete with canal boats. Unfortunately, they didn't build it and guess who did? Las Vegas.

There was another Venetian/Italian themed resort design too during the Disney decade, but that was cancelled and most of the concept ended up at Tokyo DisneySea.
