Hello,
I'm looking into renting a vacation home from Bright Star Resorts. Anyone ever use them? Any info at all???

Thanks,
Kim

Kimbac,I can't help you with info on Bright Star Resorts but there are alot of other websites to look at vacation homes.
I looked up the website to Bright Star Resorts and none of the links worked. You would probably do better if you did a search on this forum for vacation homes.Their are tons of posts with lots of recommendations.
I'll be happy to give you some websites if you need them.

I was a little leary of this place. I found them in the Orlando magic guide. I would like some other websites if you have them. This our first time renting a home and I really don't know where to look.

Thanks Again!

Hello, as a former owner of a home in Emerald Island who has dealt with a number of companies I would stick with the ones in the last group posted.

Our home was on www.villas2000 and www.vrbo.com as well as other "by owner" sites. The vast majority of owners are sincere honest people who take good care of the homes.

www.villadirect.com is a management company that manages and rents other folks homes and they are very good.
vrbo and villas2000 are direct from the owner and they will have a management company oversee thier home and be your hosts in Florida.

It is very hard to go wrong renting a home as long as you understand you get what you pay for. Beware of 3 or 4 bedroom homes "close to Disney" that you cannot see the home and a good number of pictures of the home. Do NOT rent a home and have the company assign you one when you get there. It may be cheaper, but if this is a special vacation, the last thing you want is to be stuck out on Hwy 27 in an older home with double beds, one TV and a cold pool.

Post again or email me if you have other questions.....

You will have a wonderful time and you are very wise to ask these boards for opinions.

All the best, Ted in Iowa

Thanks Everyone!
I thought about booking through AAA Dream Homes. Has anyone ever heard of them? They don't show or tell you what house you are getting...I called and was told if I book now for our Dec 05 trip he'll lock me into this years rate..$79 per night.
HELP! I'm nervous about renting a house ... I want this vacation to be special! It's our first trip to Disney!!

Thanks,
Kimba

Kimba,

I will repeat, you get what you pay for!

How many in your group and what are the ages?

If you want this to be a VERY special trip, find out the following and let us know, so we can tell where the home is and what to expect.

What developement is the home in.

Are there TVs in all bedrooms.

Are the beds in the master king beds?

How big is the pool and does it have a jacuzzi.

How many bathrooms compared to bedrooms.

For $79, I will predict you get a 3 maybe four bedroom home in Davenport Lakes or another older developement with queen or double bed, 4 basic twin beds 2, maybe 3 baths, a pool that may or not be heated, no whirlpool, basic furnture package, and maybe a TV all bedrooms.
Now, remember, you will only be sleeping here and if your goal is sleep and head for the parks and crash, then this could be a good deal if you don't mind driving 20 to 25 minutes to the Disney Parks.

Early December is my absolute favorite time for Disney!..The parks are pretty quiet, Disney is all done up for Christmas and the weather is spectacular!

Be sure to take time to visit the Grand Floridian, the Wilderness Lodge, the Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Yacht and Beach Club just to see the Christmas decorations. No charge to do this.
Also if you love Disney see if Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party is available for an extra price. It is well worth it.

So, I am not discouraging you from the $79 home, just be prepared for a nice, basic place with room to spread out but nothing fancy. If they tell you several developments let us know which ones and we will tell you where they are and a little about them......

No matter what, YOU ARE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD AT A MAGICAL TIME OF THE YEAR!!!!
