Thought I would try to pass along a brief summary of our culinary experiences from our recent trip to the World and beyond. Sorry, no pics. I’m not big on taking pictures all the time.

Magic Kingdom.
We started our vacation with breakfast at CP in the MK. We pulled through the T&TC at 7:20 and got there at 7:55 for our 8:05 reservation. We were called in and seated in short order.

Breakfast was what you would expect from a big buffet. A lot like what you get a Shoneys, except a nicer décor and big, stuffed animals walking around. The food was good. The place was pretty, and yes, we got to see all the characters before we left. I will say, however, that we did not make it out in time to beat the crowd to rope drop. A slow eater and a late bathroom break did us in. However, rope drop is definitely doable if you plan for it and don’t dawdle in the restaurant.

Lunch: Liberty Tree Tavern. Even without a reservation, we were seated within minutes around 11:30. The décor was rustic, the food was OK. We were going to do counter service but needed this because we had a sick child in tow. The food again was OK. I had the turkey and dressing; nothing to write home about. I wouldn’t recommend it. Generally overpriced.

Cosmic Rays Café. I have always liked the chicken and ribs from here. I got a large combo platter and split it between me and two other kids. Good food and a great value. Recommended!

Pinnochios Villiage House. Got pizza here. Pretty blah. Not recommended. Cosmic Rays is my favorite place to eat in the MK.

EPCOT. Ya know, we only spent one day here. I’m trying to remember where I ate a meal, but nothing comes to mind. I think my wife got a wrap in the Land, but she didn’t comment much on it. I didn’t eat there for other reasons. Sorry I can’t add more.

DHS. Let’s see, we ate lunch at a pizza place / arcade near Muppets 3D. Pretty forgettable. Pizza in the world is about as bad as it gets. Not recommended. Had early dinner at ABC Commissary. Not much better. I got the curry chicken, which was pretty good, but did not get enough. 50’s Prime Time Café. That was a better meal, which would be expected since it was table service and more expensive. Still, not a great value. Our server wasn’t the best in the world, unlike others I saw in the restaurant. The pot roast I got wasn’t moist enough. The kids liked their meals, though. They were a better value and came with dessert.

Animal Kingdom. Our only meal there was lunch at Tusker House. It was near 11:30 and all were hungry. We headed to Africa and the Tusker House. I didn’t know this was a reservation place, and we had to wait a good half-hour before we got in. It was very frustrating to wait that long then walk in to a restaurant that’s half empty. I hate that. Why did we have to wait so long??! When we finally got in, the food was outstanding! It was an all-you-can-eat buffet and everything was wonderful, the meats, veggies, and desserts. Expensive, but highly recommended. This was our best meal in the World by far!

Outside the World:
At Seaworld we ate at the Smokehouse. This is similar to what you get at our home park of Busch Gardens Europe, and I love this food. Not only is the food great, but it is a great value too. I can split a large platter with my two kids and we can all three eat for about $20. That’s hard to beat for great food!

At Busch Gardens Africa we also ate at the smokehouse and the food was identical in price and quality.

At Aquatica, we got the all-you-can-eat at the Banana Beach cook-out. The food there was pretty good, nothing to write home about. Burgers, hot dogs, salad, dessert. A good value if you are going to be there all day and will get two meals out of it.

Emerils: DW and I went out for dinner alone one night at Emerils. This was by far the best meal I had on our trip, and one of the best ever. I had the duck which was outstanding. Our calimari appetizer was different and tasty. Dessert was also wonderful and the service was the best I have had in my entire life! I recommend this place without hesitation IF you can afford it. Our meal including tip totaled $135, and we only had one alcoholic beverege.

Well, that about covers it. I will follow with a full trip report in the trip report section, for those who are interested.

Feel free to ask questions about any of these establishments!
