I was pretty sure I read that since 9/11 there are no more tours of the bridge, so imagine my surprise when I saw pictures of Aaron Carter with Capt. Tom on the bridge in the most recent Disney magazine.

I guess if you're a celebrity, the rules don't apply.

I'm sure the thinking here was:

1 - since he's a celebrity and well-known, he wouldn't pose the same kind of threat as an unknown "wild card" that any other passenger could be.

And, probably more importantly for Disney,

2 - the photo op, publicity, and possible extra revenue was worth "bending the rules for."

In my opinion, Disney missed the boat (no pun intended) in two ways here. First, I'm sure Mr Carter wasn't unaccompanied on his bridge tour. From what I've seen, there seems to be a complete entourage of people that would follow him around...any one of which could be a "wild card." And secondly, Disney failed to take into account that its customers *would* in fact be annoyed that they seem to put "the rules" (not to mention the safety of every other passenger on the ship) aside in order to accommadate a celebrity.

Poor showing, Mr Eisner.

I'm with you Julie, rules are rules. I'm in the Coast Guard and I'm not allowed
a bridge or engine room tour while I'm a "passenger" rules are rules and
thats the way it is. No one should be allowed special privleges...
What makes Disney think a celebrity is any less risk than a regular
passenger? That being said, its not a fair world and to them that rates goes the
bennies... Gary

Yeaaaa, I'm jealous too. But I am sure that Mr. Carter, entourage or not also was accompanied by a substantial representation of DCL security. The photo poses no problem with me, and if it promotes the cruise so that more people can enjoy what I have been privileged to - so be it.
