I know there was another thread about this but I don't want to resurrect it (some folks got downright nasty)!

But DH and I just got home from seeing Bridge to Teribithia and we both loved it. It's definitely not a "kiddie" movie, but I think kids 8 years and up can relate to it.

Some people think the trailers are misleading, focusing on the fantasy aspect of the film which ends up being a very small part. However we thought the overall story and acting was very good.

I thought it was MUCH better than High School Musical. I also enjoyed it more than Chronicles of Narnia.

I agree...I thought it was going to be more fantasy. I guess I should have read the book first. I took my son to see it last night and really enjoyed the movie. I thought it was really well done and they did a good job of talking about a sensitive issue. But, I wish I had known that it was going to be sad...I had to hold back tears the last 30 minutes.

This was one of my favorite books growing up and I am excited to get to see the film. Thanks for sharing your positive experience!

I never read the book, so I was completely taken off guard when I saw the movie. I thought the movie was good, but I would have never taken my 2 DD's (11 and 7), they were both crying and were quite upset for a while after the movie. They're both really sensitive kids and when that scene came on, I didn't have to look at them to know they would be crying. I felt really bad that I brought them. I wish I would have known.

We also felt a bit decieved with the trailers.

Now the movie was very good and DD13 was fine. It was because of DW I had to put on a raincoat as I was sitting next to her.

Never read the book but again the movie was very good all around.

I have to say, for a book that became a movie and all, it was pretty good. I wouldn't say it's better than Narnia, but it was good. The ending was sad, though.

I loved it!

I have read the book about eight times, so I was able to tell what should've happened, and what shouldn't have.

Also, I think that the movie's theme should have ended the movie, Keep Your Mind Wide Open, rather than Miley Cyrus's I Learned From You.

This was the first book that made me cry when I read it as a kid. Great book, though. I told DD11 that I would take her after she read the book because, of course, I know how it ends. Just wanted her to know what she was getting into. She loved the book, and still wants to see the movie. We'll be doing that soon!
