You can buy it already if you like. The exact same rendition was released 33 years ago on the album 'That's the Way it Is' - of course I think the singer's name was Elvis, not Clay.
I actually LOVED Clay's performance of that even though I'm a big Ruben fan. I knew as soon as I heard the first few bars of the arrangement that he was going to do the Elvis version which is extremely powerful and I knew he'd nail it. My mother-in-law has that on DVD which is why that immediately registered with me.
You can actually download Clay's version for free at the following web site. There shouldn't be any legal problems with it as this site is very well known and has been operating ever since last year's competition. I wished he had done it ala Art Garfunkel (just stand there and belt!) but I would buy Clay's version too. Ever since 9/11, that song hasn't been the same for me.
