For thoes of who drive over the bridge behind the Meadow Trading Post with thier golf cart you will not be able to do that any more. When we were leaving yesterday they were reinstalling the barrier posts to keep golf carts from this area. The CM in the Meadows said there had been to many close calls between kids and carts.
So now you have to drive around the block to get to the pool.

When we were there over MD weekend, they kept closing it, but people must have been moving it themselves because as the day went on, the barricades were thrown aside. I agree it can be a little crazy with the kids, but it is so convenient it stinks to go all around. I had more close calls with the construction vehicles back there than the kids!

As the Mayor of FW I am glad the measures were taken to put the barriers up. I like cutting thru there as well but kids on bikes with training wheels and people with strollers don't stand a chance. It's a long time coming.

I'm thinking this is a great thing too. I've almost been nailed there by people in carts who really don't give a @$#%.

I too have to agree with closing this bridge to golf carts. It's just too narrow, and the blind turns were somewhat dangerous. Like....who used the convex mirrors to see who was coming???

You have a golf cart, so what's the big deal about taking the long way around? It's scenic, a nice ride, and you have more time to finish your beer!! Priorities folks....priorities!!!

Did I hear BEER?:thumbsup2

Now if everyone who was walking or riding their bikes over that bridge were drinking more beer, they would not feel the pain as much when they get run over by a cart.:confused3

I was let down because I didn't get to share a brewski or two with you over Mem. Day weekend. Where were you?

A minor inconvenience for cart drivers, a major advancement in safety for pedestrians. It only adds a few minutes to the trip for the cart to bypass the bridge.

Well the Mayor is for it and I am for it as well.

A couple folks on this board in the past got angry with me because as a dedicated walker/biker I refused to jump off the bridge into the creek below so they could speed past in their golf cart. I've come across the bridge before to see an accident scene that had already occured but yet to be responded to. I've almost been nailed myself around the curve off the bridge to the side of the MeadowTP by underage kids driving recklessly.

Besides, cart people say they like driving around in their carts so the extra distance shouldn't be too unpleasant an experience.

In instituting this rule I will say Disney has a bad track record of enforcement. Let's hope this rule is enforced for the safety of all.

I did like driving over the bridge, however, my cart never went fast enough to cause any major damage!:rotfl2:

I will gladly drive old bessey around the bend for safety!:thumbsup2

I don't think enforcement is going to be an issue. Tigger said they were re-installing the barrier posts.

It might be interesting to be in the vicinity some night right after the barriers go up and see how many carts are impaled by folks who are used to the path and not aware of the change. :happytv:

I smell youtube potential.

I hope they put something on the pool side if not the bottleneck of carts will be great video:cool1:

I've gotta say I am glad to hear they are doing this. We have come close to being hit many times both on foot and in the cart.

sorry, lynn. i will try to keep jeff from trying to run you guys over the next time we are there....
:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Well, unless I missed something, I went through there tonight and over the bridge, no barriers just the post that was always been there, maybe I missed a new sign in the rain. I'll look again tomorrow, maybe I was in violation.

I only drive over that when i've been drinking heavily, but Debbie is always driving....
