My friend was married last weekend, not a Disney wedding. Just looking for input from other brides because I am out of the loop. The DJ at the wedding was a bit of a disaster. Bride and groom had met with him several times before wedding to go over what they wanted. They paid $800 for his service and he was paid well in advance. Here are the issues:
The bride and groom had chosen specific songs for the intro of the bridal party. Each pair introduced should have had their own song snippet. DJ played just one song for the entire thing, which was not one chosen by bride and groom. They had also selected a song for their own intro, it should have been "At Last" which was a family joke since they have been engaged 7 years. The dj played lmfao for the bridal party and Rocky for the bride and groom. Bride was clearly not happy.
There was a "no play list" made by the bride, it had 12 songs. 6 of them were played at the wedding. Bride complained after each one, Dj kept saying "oops" but seemed not to care. They also had a list of music they wanted, none of it was played. DJ played all modern music and club type stuff. Bride and groom ahd to keep requesting songs they wanted throughout night.
The bride & groom song was correct, thank god. but the mother/son groom dance song was incorrect and the father daughter dance song was incorrect. Both dances stopped and bride went to dj booth to correct them. It was very obvious to everyone there.
Bride wants a full refund plus damages because she said the entire wedding was ruined. She spent the whole night mad at the Dj which was sad, it was a fun party. I wish she could have let it go instead of babysitting him. DJ said none of those items were outlined in the contract and it is up to him to decide what to play and her lists were just suggestions. It appears as though he was just completely unprepared.
I think she is kind of overreacting, but the DJ was really bad, so I see how she is upset. I do think she should get a refund from him, but I do not think it ruined the whole reception. I think she should just leave bad reviews everywhere to spare future brides but she is out for blood. Her parents are hiring a lawyer and plan to sue for ruining the whole reception.
What are your thoughts? Just curious to see if others think she is overreacting or if she should be able to sue for ruining the reception.
