I know many of us are trying to get in shape for the big day, and several here know how I have struggled with my own body image... but I got on the scale this morning and I have lost 41 pounds, and 26 inches! I nearly fell off of the scale! I went and checked my measurements, then went back and got on the scale again LOL I just knew that I had read it wrong!

I still have a LONG way to go, I am very over weight, but I have had several successes. I have been having to buy new pants every couple of weeks. My rings are getting loose. My bra size has gone down a little. My pants size has gone from a snug 28 to a comfortable 24 or a snug 22.

Also, SO and I went to a fancy dance thing the other night. For YEARS I have only been able to wear Just My Size panty hose. I went to pick up some hose and bought a pair of JMS and then on a whim, picked up a regular pair of Q No Nonsense hose. The JMS was way too big, and the No Nonsense fit perfectly. It sounds stupid, but I nearly cried.. do you all know how long it has been since I could wear 'regular' hose???

My goal is to be at least down to a 20 for the wedding. I would like to be more like an 18, but am shooting for a 20.

So, how is everyone else doing?

I just want to say a big WELL DONE to you for your weight loss success so far! :cool1: I too know how good it feels to lose weight and keep it off - I lost 50lbs ten years ago and have kept it off, apart from when I had my DD who is now 6 years old. I gained the weight back at that time, but got back on track after she was born and lost it again! :)

You must be on cloud 9 today :cloud9: I wish you success and am sure you will reach the target you set yourself for your big day!

That's awesome!!!!! I wish I were doing as well but I've been going the opposite direction on the scale. In the past 2 months, both my mother and grandfather have passed away and I had a late miscarriage so between dealing with my emotions and stress of life (and wedding planning)...I haven't stopped eating! I am definitely an emotional eater and my lack of exercise hasn't helped either. DF and I used to go to the gym 5 days a week. I stopped last year after having another miscarriage (I've had 3 now total...but I'm lucky to have given birth to 4 beautiful babies, so I thank God every day for that)....anyway, I just can't get back into it. I just want to know...how is fair that when we stopped working out, I got fat but DF got skinny???? MEN! :headache: I really would like to lose 15-20lbs before the wedding but I know it won't happen until I stop complaining and do something about it. Your success has really encouraged me to get moving...you must feel so great!! I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goal, you are going to be a stunning bride!!! :thumbsup2

Wow, congratulations on your wieght loss success! :woohoo:

I have known that I SHOULD get started getting in shape for the big day, for some time now, but only really got started and been consistent for about a month now.

A while back someone started a thread on this topic, and someone suggested Sparkpeople.com That is what I've been using and I can't begin to explain how helpful it's been. :thumbsup2 The best part...it's free! It tracks everything and all the nutritional values and calories burned for different exercises are programmend in already. So there's no counting, you just have to tell it what you ate and what you did. There's also great articles, and charts to track your progress.

Congratulations again on your success, and thank you for sharing with us, it's motivating to hear how well everyone is doing! :cool1:

Wow, 41 lb is an impressive weight loss, well done!

I started dieting in January when we first planned our wedding for next May, giving me plenty of time as I've plenty to lose! Before we went on a 14 night cruise from which wev'e just returned, I had lost 26 lb. Sadly that has gone down to 19 lb. I tried to stick to fruit for breakfast, but the 3 course evening meals and fruity frozen cocktails have taken their toll!!! so now I should be back on the straight and narrow, but I'm finding it hard at the moment even though we are now less than a year out. I currently have about 48 lb still to lose so I really need to get motivated again. I have already bought my dress in a size UK14 ( US 12? ) and I am determined it will fit me ( if it needs taking in , then that would be wonderful LOL! )

Contgrats on your amazing weight loss:thumbsup2 , are you following a specific weight loss plan or just cutting back? As you can see, I too am looking to lose weight for the wedding. The last 2 weeks I have started having fruit for breakfast, a salad for lunch with heaps of protein (pasta, chicken, nuts and cheese) and a healthy dinner. I drink water and still have coffee but with splenda. I do 20 min elliptical every day along with my sit ups and swimming once a week. I am now hoping to get back into kickboxing, which I really love and it really burns the calories.
Ideally I would like to lose another 25 pounds before the wedding but I am grateful for every pound I lose. I have lost 7 pounds since I ordered my dress so I'm really happy with that.
I have decided that what I do in Disney stays in Disney:rotfl: I am on the DDP for 14 nights and I ain't just having salads all day.
It's great to hear success stories, it just spurs me on to do even better next week.

Congratulations - that is an awesome accomplishment!! I struggled and struggled to lose weight before the wedding too, went from size 26 to a size 14, then up to a 16 right before the wedding, but was still happy to have made the progress I did, weddings are great motivators!! (But I'm afriad i stayed in the honeymoon mentality a bit too long and went back to a 22, but am slowly coming back down again!) Anyway just wanted to let you know that 40 pounds is a great achievement and way to go!! :cool1:

Congrats on your current weightloss. Like a previous user mentioned, try out sparkpeople.com. It is an awesome website with a nutritional tracker, meal plans, exercise plans and support groups. I love that site although I've stopped using it (commiyment issues lol).

On a positive note about sparkpeople its mini two week break where you develop two habits, I quit drinking soda. It has been 3 weeks already.:)

Congrats on the weight loss!!! It's a very difficult thing to do, especially if you are like me, and simply love all the things that are bad for you. I have lost 80 pounds since Oct of 06, and gone from a size 26 to an 18 in the same amount of time. It feels amazing to be able to go into a store and buy those jeans that looked tiny a couple months ago....way to go!!! It's a huge achievement and I hope that you are proud of yourself!!!

Wow! You are an inspiration. I am an emotional eater, okay, maybe not, I'm just plain addicted to food. My current weigh in is 177 pounds, a good 30 lbs heavier than I was 2 year ago before DF and I got back together. Yes, I do blame some of it on him. I've tried dieting, but I can't seem to stick with anything. I've tried to change my lifestyle, and while I"ve cut out most bad carbs, and changed everything in the pantry, I'm not losing any weight. I was exercising regularly, but nothing changed. DF has lost about 15 pounds in the past few months, and nothing for me. Its like that commercial on tv where the husband cuts out bread and loses weight, and the wife hasn't had bread in 2 years and hasn't lost any. So I'm doing a few last minute solutions before the wedding. As I continue to watch what I eat, and TRY to exercise, I am going to Suddenly Slimmer Day Spa on tuesday for a slendertone body wrap. I am also drinking an herbal laxative dieters tea. And if necessary I'm thinking about a colonic. I only have 3 weeks to go, but apparently the wedding itself is not enough motivation. Good luck to all the disbrides.

I have lost about 12 lbs and I have five more to go!!! Hope I continue to loose the last 5 in two months

Wow that is amazing lbs. congrats . My wedding is 18 weeks away and about 2 weeks ago I decided to get serious about dieting and exercise. I want to lose about 50lbs for the wedding and have already lost 10 (5 in the past 2 weeks). I sat down with a calculator and figured out I need to lose about 2.5lbs a week until the wedding so it seems achievable. Again WTG!!!

Thanks for all of the encouraging words!!! I am very proud of myself. I am not on some big diet or anything, I've just tried to slowly change my lifestyle.

I stopped wearing stretchy pants. I now only wear jeans or pants with belt loops. I pull the belt a little snug and I am conscious of it when I am eating.

I have been using sparkpeople to keep up with my calories and measurements. It is a motivator to look and see how much my body has changed. I do measurements on my neck, bust, ribcage, waist, hips, thighs, calves, and upper arms. I have noticed that the weight has been coming off of my legs, arm, and neck faster than the trunk section.. but, that is okay, as long as it is coming off. I've lost 4 inches off of each thigh.. think about that. Most people want to lose 4 inches off of their waist, and I have lost it off of EACH thigh!!

I have not cut anything out. I eat what I want, in moderation. That was hard. It was hard to realize that I a serving size of chips is only 10 (or so) chips, not half a bag. ;) I started eating on smaller plates, that helped a lot. Our dinner plates are HUGE, and when I would measure out correct portions, they would get lost on the plat, but on one of the smaller salad plates, the correct portions would fill the plate.

I also started packing my lunch to work. I estimated that last year, I spent way over $2000 going out to lunch everyday with my coworkers. Heck ladies, that is half the price of the escape wedding package! :bride: So, for lunch, I buy the south beach diet wraps. I am not following the south beach diet, but I liked what the wraps offered, high in protein, high in fiber, low in fat, and approximately 200-250 calories for the entire meal. I do supplement that with a large salad at lunch with fat free ranch dressing.

I try to drink plenty of water.. sometimes it is hard though!

Also, my other weapon that I have with me at all times is Rice Cakes. Now, I know a lot of you are going eeewwww. But, I have fallen in love with them. If I get the munchies, I turn to them before other food. There are a ton on the market know. The white cheddar tastes like cheesy popcorn. The carmel tastes like Cracker Jacks. I like the plain salted ones with hot salsa. There are a ton of them out there and most of them are 50-60 calories each.

Those are the main things that I am doing, and so far, it seems to be a winning combo for me.

Those are all great tips and seem very do-able! :thumbsup2 I especially like the no stretchy pants thing. I've noticed I am much more concious of what I put in my mouth when I get out of my sweat pants. It's just so tough to wear the tighter clothes when you aren't feeling good about yourself. I am going to make an effort now though to get up and get dressed...really dressed...everyday. Sweats are a thing of the past! ;) Thanks for all the great tips!!! :goodvibes

Well done that is fantastic. As you can see from my ticker which I have had on here for several weeks I have only lost 3 pounds I started back on weight watchers but quickly realised that it was no longer motivational for me.

I have done a lot of moving house and job lately and just about to have do it again:scared1: I am working really hard at work and on top of that I am trying to find a new job where we are moving to this time and a new house and I just cant be bothered just now with anything else dieting, food-shopping, cooking or exercise. I might try that website that sounds good.
