Okay my wedding is getting close and I have some questions on Bridal Showers...

1. Who throws them for you? Can mothers throw them for you?

2. How many people should you invite? Since we are having a Small wedding at disney is it rude to invite people that we didn't invite to the wedding?

3. What is typicaly done at a Bridal Shower?

4. What kind of food do you serve?

5. Where do you have Bridal Showers?

6. How many Bridal Showers did you have? Should there be one for each side of our familys?

Thanks :)

A lot of this is really depending on you & your fam, heres my opinions.

1. Who throws them for you? Can mothers throw them for you?
I think it is tradionally thrown by the MOH & wedding party, but your mom could do it if she wanted to take some of the pressure off of the bridal party.

2. How many people should you invite? Since we are having a Small wedding at disney is it rude to invite people that we didn't invite to the wedding?
This is why I am skipping it! We are having an Escape, and in my opinion (I am sure people will disagree) I would feel uncomfortable having a big shower in which guests will not be invited to the wedding. That is just my opinion, and in my family this would be a big scandal.(my family is unique in that way, everything is a scandal)

I think its a very touchy subject for the shower & engagement party, how would you feel if you got invited to one, but then not the wedding?

3. What is typicaly done at a Bridal Shower? A cake, brunch or dinner, present opening, sometimes little games

4. What kind of food do you serve? can be anything from buffet to pot luck to formal, depends on who throws it and how many people and where it is held

5. Where do you have Bridal Showers? can be at someones home or at a hall

6. How many Bridal Showers did you have? Should there be one for each side of our familys?
I think one is plenty! its a lot of work putting one together!

1. Who throws them for you? Can mothers throw them for you?

Typically it's the maid-of-honor, but nowadays I think just about anyone can throw you one. My future mother-in-law is throwing mine, with my mom helping.

2. How many people should you invite? Since we are having a Small wedding at disney is it rude to invite people that we didn't invite to the wedding?

Again it depends on your family and friends. Pretty much everyone who's invited to my shower has been invited to the wedding and is either going or has declined going (to the wedding) so it's all good.

3. What is typicaly done at a Bridal Shower?

Food, gifts, games....usually very "girly" stuff (boys aren't allowed at mine ;) )

4. What kind of food do you serve?

We'll probably do finger type foods, sandwiches, chips with dip, etc. Plus cake!

5. Where do you have Bridal Showers?

Mine is at the church where we're having our at-home reception after the wedding up where my future in-laws live.

6. How many Bridal Showers did you have? Should there be one for each side of our familys?

I'm just having one. My mom was going to throw one down here where we live too (which is 3 hours away from where the one my FMIL is throwing) but I don't have enough friends here to justify having one. So my mom and FMIL are combing the guest lists and just having the one.

1. Who throws them for you? Can mothers throw them for you?

MOH and Bridesmaids typically...it is not proper ettiquette for the mother to throw the shower. It looks too gift grabby.

2. How many people should you invite? Since we are having a Small wedding at disney is it rude to invite people that we didn't invite to the wedding?

If you are not inviting someone to the wedding, they should not be invited to the shower
3. What is typicaly done at a Bridal Shower?

food, games, open gifts

4. What kind of food do you serve?

whatever you want!

5. Where do you have Bridal Showers?

wherever... mine was a a park hall close to my house.

6. How many Bridal Showers did you have? Should there be one for each side of our familys?

I had one and both of our families were invited and came.

1. Who throws them for you? Can mothers throw them for you?
well my MOH organized mine and asked all the BMs to help. Be careful with that though because it caused a lot of stress. Even though all the girls committed to helping when my MOH asked for money they all complained. Your mother is not responsible (especially if your parents are paying for the wedding) but can help if she wants. A lot of times an aunt or close friend will throw it too.
2. How many people should you invite? Since we are having a Small wedding at disney is it rude to invite people that we didn't invite to the wedding?
I think it is wrong to invite people to the shower that you are not inviting to the wedding. Personally I would be offended if I went to someone's shower and then didn't get invited to their wedding. It was like they were asking for a gift but didn't think I was important enough to make the cut. Now if you are doing something at home after your wedding, maybe you could do your shower in between your Disney and at home wedding, then invite everyone?
3. What is typicaly done at a Bridal Shower?
We are going to be doing a lot of talking and eating and opening gifts. We MIGHT play a game or two... I am not sure, I don't know much except when to show up where. We also have door prizes.
4. What kind of food do you serve?
I have an amazing family that cooks like crazy so to save the girls money, my aunt is making a bunch of her salads and roast beef, my cousin is making some crazy amazing potatoes that she makes, my other cousin is making family recipe sauce (we are italian), and my other cousin might be making a dessert (on top of the cake we are already having)... Italians eat well haha
5. Where do you have Bridal Showers?
Mine is at a hall, my friends was at a fire hall, my cousins was at a house, others do it as formal as a banquet facility. I personally didnt want anyone going broke for my shower so we found the cheapest place we could that wasnt a dump
6. How many Bridal Showers did you have? Should there be one for each side of our familys?
I live out of state so we are only having one. My future SIL had two. Personaly, I wouldn't want to have two unless someone else realllllly wanted to throw it
