Hello! I've got a couple of questions for you! My DFiance and I became engaged this past October while at Disney World. We have since set a wedding date of 12/12/09. We cannot afford a Disney wedding at this time, so we're having a small ceremony at home with close family and friends. Since Disney is a very special place for both of us, I really wanted to have pictures taken of us in our wedding attire at the resorts while at Disney on our honeymoon.

I've contacted Disney Event Photography, and I was told that we could do a bridal portrait session (1 hour) for $450. In order to get a copy of the CD with all photos, it would be another $750.

I've also contacted our resort (Port Orleans French Quarter) to see if we could have an outside photographer come in and take pictures of us in our wedding attire while there. I was told that we could and that there would be no fees associated with it. (I asked twice about any fees that may be required. The CM checked both times and told me no both times. This was a CM I was transferred to after I told the CM who answered the phone my question.) The only thing we'd have to do is have the photographer come in as a guest (by the photographer giving security our first and last names). Then we could take any photos we wanted in our wedding attire. I was also told that we could venture over to Port Orleans Riverside if we wanted.

Now here are my questions...

1. Do you think Disney would allow us to use an outside photographer to take pictures at a resort we are not staying at? Do you know who we would contact to find out this answer? The individual resorts?

2. Given that all Disney employees seem to have different information, do you think the info I was given by POFQ is correct? Is there anyone else I should contact? I know that I can always verify closer to our trip, but I'd hate to book a photographer only to later be told that we can't take the pictures! So I want as definitive of an answer as possible before I book.

Thanks for any information or advice that you can give! Worst case scenario, we just get the photos through Disney Event Photography, but there's a particular photographer I've seen some of you use that I'm very interested in using!

We did engagement photos last May at the WL and the Poly. We used an outside photographer. While I did not have a wedding dress on, we were dressed up.

No one said anything and we never asked anyone. Before the photos in the WL we met with our minister to have a talk with him. We just sat in the lobby and spoke for about an hour.

We were married in November at WDW. Our reception was in ADH and after we walked around The Boardwalk with our outside photographer. Now, we had just been married but no one asked anything. A few hours later, in our wedding outfits we walked through The Boardwalk and into Epcot for our Dessert Party. We had to meet a guide in Epcot to get in in my dress but I really do not think anyone would ask anything.

If we had not been so tired after our reception and phototaking at The Boardwalk we really wanted to go over to the WL and take more photos but we were so exhausted. I do not think anyone would have said anything.

There are NO restrictions on who can take photos at the Disney resorts. The only place Disney controls it is inside the parks. Many local photographers do scores of bridal/engagement-type shoots at the Disney resorts every year.

We took engagement portraits at Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian and wedding-attire photos at the Beach Club and BoardWalk Inn.

Thank you! Its my understanding that Disney has a policy to keep brides from seeing each other, so I wasn't sure if they'd allow me to go on properties where DFTWs occurred in my wedding gown. Certainly, if I saw a DFTW occurring, I would steer clear. I just want to make sure I'm following the rules! :)

That only happens when two Disney weddings are scheduled around the same place and time, cuz that's the only time they can control it. :thumbsup2

I wouldn't worry about it - they're not going to run up and shove you behind a ficus tree or something if there's another wedding party in the lobby when you get there. :rotfl:
