Bricks between Disneyland & DCA

Just wanted to let everyone know: I just placed my order for my hubbys birthday brick (Yeah! Cheers!) and the gal on the phone really discourged me from buying the wood replica... she said she gets all kinds of calls from people saying they dont like them since you can barely see the words. Just FYI... I did go with the acrylic since she was so against the wood. ... and I did get a date, I just didnt get to decide on a date! I picked the mouse ears logo and it comes with the current year.
My hubby will love his birthday gift this year!
And if he is snooping on my DIS-ing... well he has spoiled his own surprise.

Do you mind if I ask you a few questions?

1) did the girl on the phone say that your DH's brick would be put in sometime in August (not confirming a date)?

2) Were you informed as to when you would receive the replica?

3) When is your DH's B-day? (my DH's is the end of May, I'm hoping that this would be enough time to allow the replica to come...as I am hoping to present him with that as his present).

Isn't this exciting!!! My Dh thinks they aren't doing this anymore, he is going to be really surprised. I even have a friend ordering it for me and it will be shipped to their house so my DH doesn't see a transaction with Disney.

We have two bricks. Both 50th. My brother and I got one for my mom and stepdad and had their wedding anniversary on it because you can't do in memory of... My mother was a die hard disney fan. When she moved Florida they spent many weekends going down to WDW and every time they came home to CA to visit me and family we went to Disney. She took my husband, daughter and myself to the DLR for my daughter's 1st b-day and we stayed at the GC for 3 nights. Its was great. So in honor of her and my stepdad we got them one. Then a few months later we bought one for ourselves and put our daughter's b-day on it since she is our only. Both are closer to the Disneyland side and the monorail goes almost right overhead. So I feel we are safe from moving for a while.
We will be there on the 4th which will actually be the 6th anniversary since my Mom died unexpectedly. I will for sure be visiting her stone that day.

We also got the wooden replicas for both stones. They sit on top of my big TV so I see them everyday to remind me.

Here is what happened when my husband ordered mine. He ordered it in November, 2007, the charge went on the CC on 12/2/2007. We got a certificate in the mail before Christmas, but the replica just came last week. Mine will be put down in May, 2008; the actual wording is "The installation of the brick is scheduled to take place during May 2008, barring any unforeseen delays." You may get the replica before the end of May if you order now. You will get a certificate to verify the wording; it also has a picture of the paver on it along with a map so you can see where it will be. Also, in the letter with the certificate it says "please expect to receive your replica in approximately 10 weeks after you have received this letter, barring any unforeseen delays."

We've got 2 bricks. The first one is an AP logo with our family name, year we got the brick, & first names. The second one is a 50th logo with our family name, city & state, & date we got the brick. :)

Yes, August installation.
She said the replica would be 10 weeks, but some paperwork will be sooner.
Bday is mid June.

She also said we'd get a map and all that.

I did have one more idea... I might make my hubby a stepping stone (for the garden) in the exact size as the real stone. I have these litlle press-in letters for stepping stones. It wont look as good of course, but it could be a nice reminder of DL and his stone there. I have a mickey mouse cookie cutter so I can even get the mosue ears on top like the real stone will have.
This could easily turn into a tradition at our hosue, too. A new stepping stone for each vacation taken to DL.

oh that is way smaller then I imagined!

how big is the replica?

here's my husband holding it. we thought it would going to be actual sized so we thought it was funny when it ended up being tiny.

I think it's cute! Anything bigger might seem gaudy.

I think I prefer the wood too, even if you can't see the inscription that well. I'm just not an acrylic kind of gal. :)

I wonder how much longer they'll be selling them?

That is a great idea. I would love to have a stepping stone similar to our Disneyland one in our backyard. Such a cute reminder.

Who is this question to?

My DH's name happens to be Stephen (we call him Steve for short), last name is Lennon (like the famous Beetle).

It's to samkj- the person who posted the pic.

My DH's name is Stephen too. :)

I think the question was for the person who posted the picture of that particular brick. The family name is Stephen, and then one of the first names is Steve, which mean someone is apparently named Steve Stephen.

ETA: Oops, I really should keep out of other people's conversations!

I get it now. Just another blonde moment:rotfl:. That and it's late and I'm tired. Thanks for the clarification: Lynzer Torte, Tink 208

When DH got me our brick for Christmas, he gave me a stepping stone (that looks just like the DLR one!!) and wrapped it up. I have a priceless picture of me unwrapping that and looking very puzzled. I'm wondering if he is proposing garden work?? Then he said, "open this one next" and it was the replica! Second photo: Huge grin!!

I think half the fun for him in getting the brick was figuring out how to surprise me with it!

I didn't buy the replica when I ordered our bricks. After the fact, I wish I had so I decided to made my own! I took a picture of the brick and cut it out. Then I had my neighbor cut out a piece of wood the same shape as the brick and stain it and I decoupaged the photo to the wood. It turned out great! Just an idea if you want to save a few dollars or wished you'd ordered the replica but didn't.
