I've seen some people ask about this product on here and found no one answered the questions so I thought I would take a stab at it.

I just purchased a BrickHouse child locator to use on my 3 kids @ WDW. I figure mine as well test the thing before we get to the park. I gave a tag to my 7 yr old and told her to start walking any direction once I wasn't looking. I set the alarm to go off as soon as she roamed 100' away. The alarm went off and the monitor told me to start a search but as soon as I started the search the screen kept flashing unable to locate tag. All my kid did was go around the corner of the house and instantly the tag lost all contact with the locator. I tried to 2 more times with the same result the locator would only find the tag if it was in a direct line of sight. I then took her to the football field to try again this time it worked better so I suggest it for walks in wide open spaces like the Sahara or the moon or if you keep losing your keys then it will find something in the same room but other than that it was a complete waste of time and money. DO NOT BUY, USE, BORROW or have anything to do with this product.

Wow, and arent those things expensive ? I saw the Duracell commercial and wondered how they worked. Did you use new batteries in them? I thought maybe if you popped old batteries into them it would have weakened the signal . ( That happens when our walkies get low)

Wow, I never thought of new batteries. After spending a couple hundred on the locator and since my kids are priceless I just figured I would use some old batteries out of the tv remote and save $5. That is normally what I do with a new item, just use some odds and ends laying the around the house, like when I bought my new car, I told them to keep the tires and I would just use the 1st 4 I came across that had no hunting painted on the side.

Just an update, I tried the new battery suggestion and yep it still sucks.

Wow, with posts and responses like your first few, I can see you being a real asset to the boards.

It's not at all inconceivable that the batteries that come with devices are new but not fresh (and yes, some expensive devices do come with batteries and they aren't always fresh from Duracel). The pp had a legitimate point, and you didn't have to jump down her throat.

Sorry you had a bad product experience, but let's try posting some positives so we get a better feel for you.
