we are putting in an inground pool. We are using 36 inches of brushed concrete right around the pools edge. However we are undecided in either stone henge pavers or stamped concrete for our patioj that is roughly 30x24. Pros, I think stamoed is prettier, pros in stamped no weeds, cons stamped weeds, cons stamped extremely slippery...I know getting plain brushed concrete is also a way but right now we have it and we have stone walls around it and I just think getting a design in the concrete or pavers would enhance the look...any suggestion would be GREATLY appreciated. We are so confused...

My husband works for a pool company so I asked him. He agreed with you that the stamped is slippery, but said he would still go with that. He said the pavers tend to shift and move and after a couple years can look bad. We are in VT and he mentioned that location can play a role in this because of the type of winters (frost heaves)

I did a pool with the stamped concrete in TX and never again will I put in stamped concrete. Under wet feet, I did not like the texture.

I would not want pavers either.

I know I am no help but for practically I prefer the brushed concrete.

We have a massive stamped concrete patio around our pool. It is not slippery at all. OP I will PM you some pictures. Some stamped concrete is shiny and glossy etc. We did not like that look and went with a sealer that is more matte and has some texture to it.

I've seen many paver pool decks from living in So Fla for 25 years. They not only get weeds, they shift and get unlevel in places. The low areas can form puddles. Unattractive after a few years, unless re-done. $$. A poured concrete deck with a texture is better. Can be a different color/texture than your brushed surface. The popular thing when we left Fla was called Cool Deck, which was applied on top of concrete. A wood or composite deck can also be used but again -- the weeds. I have read about many surface sealers that create a non-skid surface. Probably has to be re-applied from time-to-time. Some products yellow, others don't. Ask your pool deck installer about this option. Perhaps re-application can be a DIY project and keep expense down.

We put in a big paver patio on the other side of the yard years ago. What a pain! The weeds are horrible. I wish I would have went with stamped.

By the pool, we did colored brushed concrete around the pool itself. Then at the one end is a very large patio area. We did a big free form area of colored stamped. It looks like an large area rug. Then we did a second smaller patio off of that area that is raised and that also was stamped to match.

The combo looks nice.

Thank you so much for all the replies. It Definately gives me some things to consider. I am gonna call and ask about the stamped. I am going to google the "cool deck" I am in Illinois...

IMO, stamped is more visually appealing and less maintenance. No weeds and no shifting/heaving like the pavers would do.
