Brett Farve...

He unexpectedly made the announcement out on the field to a reporter that he's retiring. He broke down and got all emotional. What a nice guy even though I'm originally from Chicago and gotta hate on those Packers.;)

ETA: I know there's been speculation and it wasn't really a surprise, but I meant that he didn't mean to make the official announcement at that moment, but he was caught off guard I guess.

I think this was truely his last game. Thankfully he won the last game at Lambeau and the last for the year. Too bad that they could not have won one more game, then he would have finished his career in the playoffs.

Iowa Hawkeye football (go Hawks) makes me cry sometimes, BUT I think this is it with Brett. What a class act and God bless him and his family.

Ok, DH is watching it with the DVR so he is not up to that part yet. I was wondering if we missed something.

I thought he should have retired last year.

ETA-I know he is crying, but he did say 'if'. :)

I got a little choked up myself watching Brett. He's a class act

Brett Favre is one real class act. If there was one sports figure I would want my children to look up to, it would be him. He made me cry tonight as well.

Actually, that is not what he said. He did break down and cry, but he never commited to a decision one way or the other. The reporter specifically asked him if this was his last game and he said he would decide in the next couple of weeks or so. He said he wanted to talk it over with his family first, but that it would ultimately be his decision. IT defintely was NOT an official announcement. I live in Wisconsin and that interview has been replayed over and over since it was given just a few hours ago.

The head coach was interviewed as well and he also refuses to comment. So again, nothing official.
I agree it was very sad, and it doesn't look good....but as of right now there is still hope!

He didn't actually say he was retiring. He said he would decide and announce "soon." Michaels and Madden sure think it was his last game. Michaels even had some tears watching Favre. They talked all night about how Brett and his wife were out to dinner last night and Brett tried to get his wife to talk to him about it but she basically said, "not again!" lol!

Can you imagine the pain he must be feeling? To have to let go of an entire area of your life? I feel bad for any athlete that has to make this decision and even more so for one like Brett! He has always been a pleasure to watch.

At least he has his Rayovac and Sensodyne commercials to fall back on.

He said it all depended on what He wanted to do with his family.

The way he played tonight you could see everyone was rallying around him.
