I am flying Breeze from AVP to MCO in January. Last night Breeze changed the flight from a roughly 12-2:30pm flight to 6:30-9pm.

Two Questions:
Has anyone had this happen with Breeze and can I expect that they might change again?

We always do the Springs the first day and a park the first full day. This really throws a wrench in things. My sons will be 1 and 4 at the time and I am worried about getting in so late. Does anyone have experience with young kids and getting in late? Do you do the parks next day? We have one night at AKV our first night as it was a day we added on. Feel like we would see the resort at all now.

Does Breeze give you the option to change the flight since it moved by so many hours? I know that some other airlines will let you change without any extra charge. I don't think there is any way to predict what changes to flights they might make in the future.

I think it depends on how your kids do staying up, sleeping on the plane, etc. when my boys were young (now 21 and 18, we’d always take the redeye from Seattle and get in early morning and hit the pool and parks later in the day. But my boys would nap in their strollers and sleep the entire flight.

All airlines adjust their schedules after they are first out. Sometimes it's only a few min and other times it a big change like yours. 2-4 months out tend to be a time when airlines adjust as they are firming up crew runs and equipment cycles. With a change as big as yours already I wouldn't think it will change all that much from here on out, maybe 5-10 min at most, but anything can happen.

As a PP said look up and see if there are any other flights earlier that day from your airport. If so see if they are offering a free change.

If flying in Jan + evening flight, my biggest worry would be flight delay that would push arrival from 9pm to even later.

I also agree with trying to see if you can change your flight to a more suitable time without penalty.

If you're stuck with your current time, I would try to get a cheap airport hotel for arrival day so you are not (1) tacking on the extra travel time from MCO to AKV and (2) paying for a night at AKV when you may barely be at the hotel. And I would definitely choose disney springs/easy start on your first day instead of morning rope drop craziness on your first full day.

I agree that the delay may be your biggest issue. I flew Breeze Airlines once and it was delayed by over 4 hours. We got to Orlando around 2am. I found out while waiting that Breeze is notorious for delays. I was told they don't have their own repair crews. If there is an issue, they have to borrow people from other airlines. They have to wait for those people to become available. Breeze is the lowest priority for these mechanics. The bartender at the bar (only restaurant open when we were stuck there for so long) said that delays are very common with Breeze.

I booked a late-ish flight to MCO last Spring that was supposed to get us in around 9:30 PM. It was delayed an hour and by the time we made it to the hotel, and checked in, it was almost 1 AM - never again. Everything just took longer bc crews are limited at that time of night. I would rather be on a 6 AM flight than arrive that late.

But to answer your question, we (DD was 5 at the time) did rally the next day and headed to the park but we got a late start and were fortunate that we had planned EPCOT and were staying near Crescent Lake. Like PP said, if you can’t change the flight I would explore changing to closer hotel.

I appreciate all the feedback. I am praying we don't have a delay that gets us there even later. AVP is very small so as long as the plan is there hopefully it won't have issues. Since we are flying out late and not having to take off work, we extended our trip an extra day!

Issue with changing flight on Friday when we leave is we already borrowed points for AKV so if we pushed Breeze to Saturday (noon flight) I would lose those 34 points.

Since we got an extra day, our first full day (Saturday) we will sleep in, enjoy AKV, go to the Springs, and check into the Poly for the week!
