Hi all,
I have been to the park 3 times before but not as a mum. Just wondered what the French are like (and others in the park) with regards to breastfeeding in public.

Many thanks
:flower3:

when i was there at the beginning of july and queueing up for facepaint (yes at 20 years old!) a woman sat down on a chair and started breastfeeding and nobody batted an eyelid and CM's walking past didn't say anything to her so I don't think its a problem to breastfeed in the parks.

As a a general rule the continentals europeans are much more liberal about breast feeding than the brits.

I was at a business meeting with a Swedish client, and part way through the meeting she just started breastfeeding her baby and carried on discussing work while the little one fed.

V odd. Think my male colleagues appreciated it though! :rotfl:

Hi Daisy78 and welcome to DLP DIS board :wave2:
We are a friendly bunch here so please join in on any other thread or if you have a number of questions then just start a new thread for each :goodvibes

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

As others have stated you'll find it perfectly acceptable to breastfeed throughout the park, restaurants and resort hotels.
For those who want some quiet space there is an excellent baby changing/feeding facility at the end of the Discovery arcade beside Plazza Gardens :)

Thank you everyone, that gives me piece of mind as the baby will only be 5months old.

:thumbsup2 Cannot agree more! I never had any probs BF in public until someone in London asked me to feed my DD1 in the loo (she was only a newborn)... I was furious but told him I'd do that only if he went to have lunch in the toilet.

So yeah, you won't have any trouble...

as a rule, breastfeeding doesn't go on for as long in France (paediatricians recommend 2 months or so), but it's perfectly acceptable.
i hate the nestle baby feeding room with old adverts of chocolate milk for babies, but i've fed everywhere, including on POTC.

HOWEVER Tweedletum performed some kind of mime in Inventions in honour of me which was a bit OTT.

i've never been asked not to, and i've been quite a few times since ds2 was born!

I too am going when DD2 will be almost 5 mths and I will be breastfeeding. I do feel v self conscious but always tend to use a muslin or blanket to cover as much as poss - the only thing is poor DD2 can end up hardly able to breathe!! But I'm not a woman that can just sit there with everything hanging out

It's a shame that we live in a world where something so natural is looked upon (at times) with such disgust/distaste. I won't start a rant here but it seems to be that Page 3 is more accepted!! :(

Hope you manage OK (and me too!). At least by 5 mths they won't be feeding so much/often!

Patsy x

PS - I would have been mortified if a character did that with us! How tactless - it almost brings attention to the fact... And I'm surprised that breastfeeding is only recommended for such a short time in France - the WHO recommends 2 years!!!

You are in good company with people who respect others views.

My support to my partner and to others who breastfeed has been long articulated.
