Breaking on ressie into two?

We are going to stay at OKW Dec 7-12th. I am hoping to move to VGF for a portion of our trip- but do not have point availability to book prior to canceling my original ressie. This makes me VERY nervous as there are no 2 bedrooms available anywhere for the 7th and 8th. So if I cancel, try to book VGF online and can't- we have no where to stay. If I wait for Member Services to open, chances are any rooms that might have been available online would be gone in that first hour.
So, my question is- can I call member services and ask them to break my current ressie into two? This way, I can cancel the 9th-12th to book at VGF if available (there are other rooms open for these dates if I need to re-book) without risking losing a room permanently for the 7th and 8th. I hope this makes sense.....

I believe they can cancel that part of the reservation since it would be the second half. The biggest issue you will have is that you can't do it until you are ready to book- in other words they can't break it down the day before you want to book so you could cancel it when online reservations open up. So you will have to wait until Member services opens up and hope there is still availability at that time.

I think that breaking an existing reservation into 2 separate reservations would be considered a cancel and rebook for the nights you are separating. If that is the case, someone could grab the nights that you are canceling when MS releases them before creating your new 2nd reservation. You might get lucky and get a supervisor who could place a hold on those nights which would protect them while the 2nd reservation is being created. I would be very careful doing this if there isn't any availability for a 2 bedroom anywhere on property for the nights in question.
