Thought this required a new thread. Went to trail's End for dinner. There were 12 rocking chairs out front of Crockett's tavern. I tried to get a pick but it turned out awful. DH and I did rock while waiting for our table. Let's hope the stay around a while.

I have an early morning ressie before we pull out. Will attempt a picture then.

Scupper?

Scupper?

Scupper?

Maybe my talk with the WDW rep on the phone about Fort themes going backwards helped...I can only hope this is for good.

We will be there first week in March. One of my favorite activities at the Fort...rocking chairs at Tavern!!! :goodvibes

Are the high boy tables actually GONE, is a picnic table on the side gone to make room for the chairs, or did they just squeeze additional rockers among what was already there?

Fingers crossed.

Quick post before we drop the Internet. Took two pics one to the left with DH in chair and one to the right. Looked like 10 chairs.

As you can see Bama ed high tables are still there. Last night all the rockers had been moved forward close to the rail and high tops were on the side porch. Did not look for picnic table.

1) Yes, they DID add rocking chairs.
2) Yes, they did keep high-tops.
3) BUT, at least there are rockers (and, not Eddie Van Halen).
4) At a meeting about six-weeks ago, rockers were discussed.
5) We mentioned the amount of complaints from long-time campers.
6) We got the "OK, we shall look into it" speech.
7) Voilà! Something positive actually happened.

NOTE: They will keep the high tops, as they want somewhere for folks waiting to enter HDDR to sit.

I'm going to be the optimist here and declare that "management has listened"!

One more thing to love about the Fort.

Or I could be my normal cynical self and say they must have been losing money since the change and it took them this long to figure it out.

When I was there last week people were moving things around as it suited them. I watched a group of 4 people come up to the porch. Two took the rockers in the porch corner (best available option?) and the other two got the high chairs (:upsidedow) and carried them around by the rockers so they could carry on with their conversation.

I also watched a "seasoned" citizen couple attempt to climb up into the chair (DH had an adult beverage in a Crockett's cup) and he elected instead to stand and lean his elbow on the high table (DW could get up into the chair).

Thanks for the update. This is a good thing.

1) Yes.
2) Yes.
3) yes.
4) Yes.
5) We have NO idea why the rockers got put back.
6) In the meeting, we made points like
. . . guest displeasure
. . . lack of places to veg-out
. . . comfortable "feel" of The Fort
. . . the history of sitting at Crockett's and watching the world go by *
7) But, one of the CM's did say, "People might drink more from Crockett's.".
8) I gotta, sorta, wonder which argument got the rockers.

* Which I have personally done since 1972 (along with "riding the rails" at FW)

Okay...

Okay...

Okay...

I admit it, the high boys were a bit of a sore spot for me. I admit I did openly discuss the use of axes, hatchets, chainsaws, firepits, lighter fluid, and even live beavers...(well, actually I think Scupper added in the hatchets...)

and maybe I did make some contacts with some high authority figures at the Fort...

and maybe I did...or maybe I didn't have 4-5 cans of unsalted peanuts delivered to a specific unoccupied site on the 400 loop with instructions for the delivery person to open the cans and leave no receipt...and maybe the authority figures took said "mystery delivery" as a sign of "payment in full" and possibly had a mass discussion with Fort higher ups...

I'm just saying you may have taken our Musket Mickey, but get your hands off our rocking chairs! Because next time I might have coffee delivered with the peanuts...

Any hope for more rockers at the stores since that is where the internet is and place to sit and rock would be wonderful while checking emails.

We had a nice sit down TE dinner after a long day at AK. There were 10 rockers on the front porch and two rockers on the side porch with 4 horrific looking high tables too. Some younger trendsetters (2 couples) were at the tables having cocktails and chatting about the latest and greatest thing. Atleast the tables and trendsetters were on the side.

Looks really nice with all the new rocker, really nice!!!

Hey! I'm a younger (compared to my dad) trendsetter, but I prefer the rockers. I'm so conflicted now. :confused3
