It is official... costumes are won:

1 in 5,000 codes.

Yup, you heard it right. One in every five thousand codes.

This was heard from an exclusive source. That's why it is taking so long and so many codes. It makes me sick, honestly. :furious:

Oh... @_@ Would you mind saying who this came from though?

Sadly, that's about the number I was thinking based on what I've read here and elsewhere. I had to do a lot of stats for Psychology in college, and taking all the info together, I was thinking it was around 5,000. And if their big idea is "to teach [us] patience and not everything is easy" by entering 5,000 codes and taking us away from our other hobbies and family and friends, causing us physical pain and downright mental wear and tear, then I think they need a pyschiatrist. :rolleyes1

And fix your bloody servers while you're at it, VMK. :furious:

1 in 5,000?

It seems as if i've been playing forever.. Now I don't think I have any hope on winning one. I'll keep trying though.. :surfweb:

is it every 5000th code that is won or do you get it for putting in 5000 codes?

well i was close.. i guess 6000

If it's accurate, it means every 5,000 codes the system cranks out is a costume code. So, in theory you could crank out 10,000 codes and still not get one outfit because someone else could grab that 5,000th code.

Hence my comment that the designers need a psychiatrist if their grand plan with this is "to teach [us] patience." :rolleyes1

Well, as I don't think anyone has managed to enter 5000 codes themselves (may seem like it tho) without getting banned, No, it's not get one for entering 5000 codes.

It's every 5000 codes won by everyone playing.

So...If there are 5000 people playing it at one time and they all get one code, only 1 person will win the costume.

That is absolutely rediculous! :furious:
Everyone wants that costume!

it would be every 5000th code if that is true so you could grab 4999 total and someone else could get that last one lucky as it is. So it doesn't matter how many you grab, you just have to grab that 5,000th.

I think one of the reasons they don't tell you the name of the prize this time is so when the game is compromised like Narnia, the people breaking in, don't know what they are stealing.

That means if you randomly take 5000 codes, you will probably get one. You could get more than one, but with 5000 You are most likely to only get one. In other words: With every 5000 codes they make, one is the Sparrow costume.

Okay...that settles it lol, I am not going to try for this silly virtual costume anymore! I have better things to do than try and hope I get the 5,000 code. Sheesh, this is more difficult to get than the Narnia Teleporters.

I would have really liked to have this costume...but seriously...not this much! This is insane and I can't let myself spend my time at something so incredibly difficult to obtain.

Gee. I can't get into VMK.
"This site is temporarily too busy to process your request. Please try again later."

Why?

Because everyone is entering their hundreds of codes hoping to have the lucky 5000th code with the costume!

If they'd put the darn thing up for sale, there wouldn't be this problem!
Idiots!

I think I will enter in only the codes I already have. After that, I'm not going to try anymore codes.
It's too insane. :sad2:

this is how I feel about that -

Upon further reflection on others' posts, I've decided there's three possible reasons for this whole fiasco:

1. There IS in fact some deal Disney has with someone where the more loads of each page equals more money.

2. This is punishment from someone with an ego the size of Texas, much like I believe the Green Car Quest is (aka someone was in a snit that people posted spoilers to help others).

3. The designer(s), whoever they may be, all are some combination of vindictive, idiotic, and certifiably insane.

:badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

I still don't get why things need to be so rare? :confused3

I guess we're all supposed to :dance3: to the tune of VMK and :surfweb: 24 hrs a day for them.

It makes me stop playing VMK. I haven't played since the first day of this insanity. Honestly, I can't imagine signing on right now and putting in another code.

They have chose to make the wrong item "rare". I could live without some silly sounding organ.. but sitting around the game (promoting it for them) without the only costume to date that I want... all I can say is, NO THANKS. You can have your patience, I'll go do something else.

I don't think these statistics are very accurate. Saying the odds being 1 in 5,000 codes, shouldn't there be a whole lot more costumes out there than what there is? You should be seeing costumes at almost every turn. Most of us have been playing almost non-stop at this game since it opened. On an average weekday, you are looking at close to 2,000 people on VMK at a time. At that rate, someone should win every 3rd code they get, which would take what not even a minute at most for slower typers 2 minutes. So having the codes at 1 in 5,000 should be producing so many people with them at first, yet you aren't seeing THAT many out there and it has been 3 days now.
