BREAKING: DFTW Now allowing Outside Photography inside Theme Parks for Weddings

I'm pretty excited about this. Does anyone know how much we can save going this route? I may seriously consider this if I can get a video package with our photos for about the same price. I can easily make the 12k minimum without photography we were anticipating about a 14-15k bill with it.

We got randy chapman for 1/2 the price with 4 more hours than Disney.

It really depends on who you choose as your photographer. Some might charge more than Disney but may include things that Disney charges extra for, like digital images. For us the most important part was that we find a photographer whose style matched ours and be able to guarantee that was who'd be there on our wedding day. :thumbsup2

I wonder if this includes the Magic kingdom bridal session or will that still be Disney photography only?

No it only includes wedding events -- ceremony, dessert party and reception. Bridal portraits are still Disney photogs.

BEST NEWS EVER!!!

Yes I am excited :) just don't hope they change back before my wedding in couple years.

I just verified with my wedding planner that this is for all wedding events but shoots before the parks open must be done by Disney.

I have Disney booked for my engagement, wedding, and bridal (MK/EC) photos, and Amy has been "reserved." My big dilemma now is, if I drop Disney for engagement and wedding, then they have to release my MK/EC session and I have to try to book it 45 days out. Apparently you can only in park session more than 45 days in advance if you are also using Disney for the wedding.

Do you all have any thoughts on this? This is a pretty big dilemma because the castle photos are really important to me. I guess if my date in October was booked I would have to wait until after the black out period and keep calling to try to reserve one 45 days out?? But then the cost of flying back out would be about the same as savings on photography. I have read good things about Amy on here...

Any insight would be amazing.

Usually the only trouble you hear brides have with booking a bridal portrait session is related to park-imposed blackout dates when nobody can shoot there. If you are flexible about which day during your trip that you do the shoot, you should be OK.

Thanks Lurky! The only problem is that there are only two days after our wedding before the blackout begins. But you have heard of brides being able to book bridal sessions 45 days out? I'm a little worried about this considering how high demand these dates may be as they are right before the blackout.

As far as the cost - it's a toss up between having to possibly fly back for the session versus lower cost of an outside photographer. However, Misty or Regina seem much more dependable than Disney, so that has to factor in. But then again, I have heard good things about Amy...

Man, I hadn't had any wedding panics so far. Should have known there would be one!

From what I've seen, most people don't have any trouble booking the shoot within 45 days if they are flexible with their date. I see what you mean about availability being limited right before the blackout starts, but it seems like only people who are already having weddings that week are going to be competing for slots.

For me, the choice of wedding photographer was far more important than whether or not I would be able to do an MK shoot, since the wedding photos were my No. 1 priority. If that helps...

Yes, and I agree with you. Photos are the one thing you really have after that day.

Now that I think about it, when you add on the $2k for MK and EC photo session, and $300 for archival disc, I probably wouldn't save any money by going outside. But it's the toss-up between Amy or outsider, and the quality.

Between sticking with Disney and having Amy, or going outside with Regina or Misty (if even available six months out!), you would pick Regina or Misty? The three of them all have very similar styles. I cannot tell on Disney Photography's site if photo retouches are included. I browsed Misty's packages and don't see details on Regina's to compare details. Lurky, I really appreciate your help and opinions. You are a valued resource!

OMG!!

To shoot a Disney wedding!! I have always been bummed people couldn't hire us and bring us in... now, I'm sooo ready!!
