Breaking Developement Here in South Bend...With the Madelyn Toogood Incident...

It's been all over our radio and local news stations this morning...

There is now a breaking story that the woman who turned herself in on Saturday and the little girl that's in foster care are not either of the individuals we saw on our television screens a week ago in the parking lot of Kohls. Reports are that this woman and child are Madelyn Toogood's sister and her daughter. Could explain the difference in hair color - hair length, and no marks or bruises on the child.

There's a news conference scheduled this afternoon at 3:00 by the District Attorney's office here in South Bend.

So the question is....WHERE is that little girl and is she ok?

Oh man! So the woman they have been interviewing is not TooGood? I can't imagine a small child like that not letting on that she wasn't the kid everyone though she was.

Please keep us updated, other than internet, I dont' have much access to news here.

This story is getting very weird. I must say that I really wondered about the difference in hair color when I saw the lady on the news.

Wouldn't she have been fingerprinted after being arrested? I thought she was arrested previously in Texas and so they should have fingerprints to compare.

Now more than ever they need to hunt that woman down (from the video) and prosecute her to the fullest extent of the law.

I think the family's strategy was to give her time to flee the country. And it worked.

They need to charge the sister with some kind of obstruction of justice!

That is the oddest thing I have ever heard.... I don't understand why another mother would voluntarily put her kid in foster care and look like a monster when she isn't the one.... but apparently they belong to some weird nomadic irish group who are known shoplifters or something.

Supposedly today, they are saying that the fingerprints don't match....her hair is longer than that of the woman in the video...and the child has no marks anywhere on her body. All of this is being released by the press, no official comments yet. I guess we'll have to wait until the press conference at 3:00 to hear all of the details.

Comments we're hearing on the radio are that this is a typical "scam" by these people - taking the place of others, etc. Another comment I heard was that they would use this excuse of "false imprisonment" as a lawsuit - another one of their scams to make money. Didn't you hear the father claim that he was going to sue Bill O'Reilly and Fox News for liabel?

I really don't give a rip what happens to ANY of these people except the real Martha....where IS she???

I thought I read she was a "wanderer". Part of an Irish conartist group (my appologies to any Irish out there, nothing personal!). This sounds like something right up their alley. Remember a few years back a women tried to sue WDW for being raped a their resort and it was all a setup.

I was watching the news with DH on the day the brunette turned herself in, and I said to DH "that's not the same woman". Why didn't authorities determine her identity sooner?

Local news at the top of the hour just stated that this latest is based on the fact that neither set of fingerprints match those from the police records in Texas.

So....now this has given the real criminal over a week to get out of the country and the wounds to heal on the beaten child. Considering the fact that the news reported earlier this week that these people make a 1/2 million dollars a year with their scams, I guess she can afford to get out of the country and probably live like a queen!!!

I say that the authorities SCOUR the lawbooks and charge EVERY single family member who didn't come forward with the info that this was NOT the woman they were looking for and charge them with WHATEVER THEY CAN...... and they should indeed have their children taken also.

How can this be true?? Curiouser and Curiouser!
