Hi
We went to this in may last year and didn't enjoy it at all. It was slow to get seated, very busy, buffet lines were huge, floor covered in food, restaurant was really dark where we were seated and if you blinked you could have missed the characters at the table they were gone that fast.
Being a glutton for punishment I'm actually wondering whether to do it again!?
The kids really like character meals and I just wondered about other peoples experiences. Were we just unlucky and should we give it another go or do people think forget it and go to another character meal we enjoy more? ;)

Hi Ruthie,

What time of year was it when you went last time?
What time of year are you going this time?

Remember, school holidays are always a nightmare! The only time we have ever found this too buisy was in Oct hols. Any other time it has been ok. There are other places you can go for a character breakfast, you don't necessarily have to go back to the same place.:)

Hope this helps:)

Hi
Thanks for the reply. We went in May school holidays last year and are going in our april school holidays next year!

Aww, sorry to hear you had a bad experience :( We've booked this for our trip in August, so I hope it's not going to be that bad. I'm not too fussed about the characters, and our ressie is early, 8:30am, so hopefully not much time before that for food and stuff to get all over the floor! :rotfl: If you do it again, I hope you have a better experience

Sorry you had a bad time-we went november when it was thanksgiving and it was very busy but we had an 08.10 reservation so one of the first in.The characters did not seem to rush.I have booked to do it again the 28th July.We have also booked chef mickeys for breakfast and dinner, playhouse disney breakfast at hollywood and vine, cinderallas castle(princess thingy) and garden grill. If you have not done garden grill I would thouroughly recommed it-it is our favorite. Also o'hana do a great breakfast as well. Not done this one but read good reports about it.

Are you staying in disney? If so try and book early or go in the morning EMH.
Good luck:simba: :stitch: :goofy:

hi
Thanks for all the replies. I guess they were just having an off day!
Perhaps we will try again!

Crabbie- Have done these and agree with you that Garden Grill was a great choice!

Thanks:)

Hi. My sister and I had breakfast here back in 2003. We waited ages to see any characters... and really ate slowly because I was determined not to leave before we'd met them (it was my first trip and our only character dining). In the end the place was nearly empty when they reached our table and we had loads of time with them, and a wonderful experience. Pluto was messing around and accidentally knocked a childs breakfast on the floor... was highly amusing and Mickey made him clear it up! Great fun!

However we've not done this meal again as we prefer the crystal palace for breakfast or lunch. This isn't really about the food, service or characters, rather that we love the setting of the crystal palace!

My experience here was the same as yours Ruthie. Wouldn't go again.

Graeme- thanks for the reply, so many people enjoyed it, I was beginning to think it was just me! Perhaps we should do something else, theres so many nicer character meals!

Thanks

I'm half worried and half not now! :rotfl: We're all 21+ so I'm not to fussed about the character interaction, as long as we see them at least once, briefly. We're all happy to do something once - at least we'll know for another year whether or not to bother again. With the exception of the Mary Poppins breakfast at Grand Floridian, we've never eaten at any park or resort TS restaurant, so highly looking forward to 'experimenting' with our free DDP!

Twilight Terror - don't worry! Many more people have said they enjoyed this than didn't, I must have just been unlucky! Disney has so many great restaurants that you just have really high expectations. Make the most of the free dining and have a great time!:)

Thanks, we will! Nothing is going to stop me at least trying it out! If we try it and don't like it, nothing's lost cos the meal was free. If we like it, then all the better. All I can say is BRING ON AUGUST!

We've done this twice and we have enjoyed it both times. Never felt rushed either time. :)

We did this for the second time on our December trip and had no problems, we really enjoyed it once again.

Having said that, my personal experience of character dinning is that it can be very hit and miss, for example in 2003 and 2004 we ate at both Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's we loved both these restaurants for the food and the character interaction hence going back but when we visited them in December we were sorely disappointed so much so that we will skip them next visit. Ohana's on the other hand we didn't enjoy the first time we visited but decided to give it another try and had a great experience there in December.
