Breakfast - which would you do?

Based on food, characters, atmosphere, etc would you rather eat breakfast at 1900 Park Fare or Akershus?

If you have a princess-crazy little girl, say ages 4 - 9, Akershus.

For everybody else, 1900PF.

For breakfast I much prefer the buffet style at 1900PF (with strawberry soup!) and I think the 'British Disney' characters are a nice way to start the day. Akershus is just wall-to-wall princesses; en masse, they do not appeal to me as much.

Based on logic I would assume if you go to Akerhus then you would be spending the day at Epcot. Based on this, it saves you a commute to the park which saves time. If you are staying at the Grand Floridian then the commute doesn't matter for 1900 Park Fare, but otherwise it's a drag to get in and out of that resort even if you can take the monorail or you have your own car. I have seen 1900 become a zoo and it can get a bit wild in there at least for my tastes.

I think Akershus is a great way to introduce children to a foreign country. They are distracted by the princesses, but some of the culture will rub off here especially if you ask your waitress to talk Norwegian and so forth. The decor is Norwegian; so, it rubs off that way, too. The restroom signs are in Norwegian, for example. I think it's a little more reserved, here.

I think you can have fun in both; they are just different places.

on your tastes. A whole lot of little girls love the princesses, so that's why many do visit Akershus. But, I have also heard about people who come there just to enjoy the food and atmosphere, not the Princesses.

I for one would prefer Park Fare, not only because I love the British Disney characters, but also because they feature a buffet for breakfast, which is more wide-ranged. I am a picky eater, so eating at a restaurant that's simply menu-item based, I'm limited down to certain foods. With a buffet, it's not only more familar to me, but I also get a wider variety. That's good for some picky kids too. Not only that, but it's one of the character meals that has NO princesses! Plus, Mary Poppins is there! Who wouldn't want to meet her?

So that's why I think it really depends on your tastes. What food you like, the way it's served, and what characters show up.

Do you have a preference for which characters you see? Are you seeing any of them at another point of your trip? Also, which location works better into your plans? This past August we did Akershus for lunch and 1900 Park Fare for breakfast (had previously done 1900 for dinner). Both were great - the food, atmosphere and character interaction. If I could only pick one, I'd probably go with 1900 Park Fare - the buffet is very good food with lots of selections, the characters are fun, and the GF is pretty to visit.

hey ...EVEN our grandson enjoyed the atmosphere at Akershus...the food that was brought to the table was plentiful and delicious.....and the buffet part of it was fantastic....if you wanted something IT was there...I enjoyed the raspberries and blackberries ...they were so sweet and delishish....
Hope you give it a try...I think the time we spent there and the time the characters spent with each family was amazing...

That is tough, they are both really good. 1900 PF has more of a food selection, but the choices you do have at Akershus are really good. I would say pick based on which characters you want to see, although I think the character interaction at 1900 PF breakfast is second to none.

Akershus is a great way to see a lot of princesses at one time and then you can enjoy Epcot.

sorry, went to bed, then to work, now I'm going to read through these great replies. Thanks so much for taking the time to weigh in. Makes my decision easier :goodvibes

For me, Akershus! I've been to 1900 PF twice and I can say that it is good but if I didn't go again I would be fine. The reason I love Akershus is the food - love those cheesey potatoes and Mickey waffles!
