Breakfast TS on the dining plan

Repeatedly I've read that using the DP for breakfast isn't a good option, but we've only got 3 full days at the park so one of our TS will be for Breakfast, actually 2 but I'm paying out of pocket for one.

My question is, the dining plan says it includes '1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert and 1 non alcoholic beverage per person', so if we're at WCC would the fruit salad (listed as a starter on the menu) count as an appetizer, then breakfast, juice or coffee and a smoothie be the dessert? Would that count as 1 person's 'credit'?

"Probably" on the starter/appetizer/fruit salad; NO on the smoothie. The plan specifically excludes dessert at breakfast, at both counter service and table service locations. OTOH, you may be able to get the smoothie as your beverage. Such inclusions vary by location.

Actually, the appetizer isn't included for breakfast either.

You do get juice in addition to your drink.

I agree with most other posters that breakfast isn't the best value for your credits. You get a lot less food for the money, since prices are a lot lower than lunch or dinner, plus you don't get a dessert on TS sit-down meals.

I've purchased CS breakfasts with "leftover" credits that I saved via lunch/dinner meal-sharing, but I wouldn't have wasted credits on breakfast if not for the fact that they were extras. Personally, I'd do breakfast in the hotel room like a PopTart, and then have an early 11am lunch. If I wanted to purchase breakfast at the resort or park, it would be the meal that I'd pay OOP for.

The exception to the general rule about breakfasts being a poor value on the DDP would be the character buffet breakfasts. They are all-you-can-eat and have a huge selection of incredible foods.

Yes, an appetizer IS included with TS breakfasts. To quote the DDP brochure directly:

One table-service meal (including appetizer, entree, dessert, or full buffet, non-alcoholic beverage, and gratuity/service charge; dessert not available at breakfast)

No, an appetizer IS NOT included with TS meals.

My turn to quote the DDP brochure directly.

Here's the link for proof:
