We need a breakfast spot for our vacation. It's needs to be at a resort and I prefer a buffet just for variety. We already have a reservation for Boma on a different day. Can you all tell me about Captain's Grille and the Wave? Either would be new for us. TIA

Captains grill is just OK. Why not Kona Kafe at the Poly. They are famous for the Tonga Toast

We were not impressed with The Wave. A lot of people seem to like it but not us. We are trying CG this trip. I understand it has a buffet and a menu and for the most part have heard great things about it. We really like Trail's End Buffet at FW. I know this is not a buffet but WCC at WL has a nice variety of food.

I had the breakfast buffet at Captain's Grille 3 times on my 2012 trip and really enjoyed it. Haven't tried The Wave.

I'm trying Captains Grille breakfast for the first time later this month. I was almost decided on The Wave but I am doing Epcot that day so I figured Captains Grille would be easier since I can walk to International Gateway from there.

Thank you. We are looking for a buffet. Plus neither of us is huge on sweet. We've done Kona for breakfast before and were less than impressed. But again, I think it's could we tend to be more savory than sweet eaters. We prefer their lunch/dinner.

Looking at dining reviews online it looks like Captains Grille has a slightly bigger selection, but The Wave has those cheesy bacon grits and sweet potato pancakes! I'm no help. I can't even make up my own mind

Ha ha.. that is exactly what happened to me when I started researching. The CG gets better reviews but I love good grits!

I know it's a weird thing to be picky about but The Wave has whole grain Mickey waffles and I'm afraid they just won't be as good as the traditional version.

CG was our go to on my last trip! We had breakfast there almost every morning we didn't have a different breakfast ADR! It was really good! The only thing I wasn't a fan of was the birthday cupcake I got there they we're kinda dry and dark chocolate which I'm not a huge fan of.

Never been to Captain's Grill for breakfast but for dinner it's a must do for us. We've been back every year for the past four years. I can't imagine breakfast isn't good.

We really liked the Wave. I like the sort of "healthy" variety (though probably not really). Tons of out of the normal fruits, the whole wheat mickey waffles, sweet potato pancakes, lots of egg dishes. I think it was eggs Benedict that I had and really liked. Also tried the grits, which were awesome and I don't typically go for grits. I've never been to the Captain's Grill.

Where are you staying and what are you doing that day? The buffets are not that different, so I would pick it based on convenience. Is it an MK day? The, The Wave wins. Is it an Epcot or DHS day? Then CG wins.

Love them both and usually hit them both up on our trips but we plan them around our park days. If your gonna be near MK choose the Wave if your gonna be near Epcot or HS choose Captains Grill. Either way you wont go wrong imo.

Have done both and they are both really good. I personally liked the whole wheat Mickey waffles at the Wave better than the regular but that's me. The variety is a bit bigger on the buffet at CG but the food quality IMO is the same. Both places have a regular menu you can order from. For the price, The Wave wins for me.
Trails End is another great breakfast buffet as others have mentioned.

We are actually not doing any park stuff that day until the evening for MVMCP. We are going to DTD in the midday and doing souvenir shopping and then an early dinner at the Boathouse before heading back for the party. Maybe I will park at TTC and go to the Wave and then just use bus transportation from Contempo to DTD and back. I like the idea of more egg options and fruits as one of us has an environmental wheat allergy. It's not as extreme as gluten/celiac so cross contamination/small amounts are okay.

The Wave has a great buffet. We ordered off the menu the last couple of times we dined at CG, but we are BLT owners so we eat at the Wave frequently. The buffet offers breakfast meats, eggs, grits with cheese and bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, assorted pastries, cold section with yogurt-cottage cheese, lox and accompaniments plus bread and bagels for toasting and hot and cold cereal.
