Hi all,
we have booked our trip for next September (16th to 20th) and as planning is half of the fun i keep thinking how to make our stay even better:idea: .

Last time we were there (1999) we had breakfast with characters at the New York Hotel and we still talk about the fun and the wonderful buffet we had there, so i had been thinking of booking the same this time:love: .
But after reading about dinners with characters i wonder if that could be a better even if more expensive choice:confused: .

And what about teas with characters???

As we will stay at the Cheyenne we can ask for Good Morning Fantasyland option but think characters wont be there will they:confused3 ?

And anyway should i ring and ask for this option now or can i ask at the Hotel reception when will get there:eek: ???

Please help me making up my mind,am confused!!!:dance3:
BTW we will be four adults as my younger son will be 14 then.

As far as I know only guests of each hotel can eat breakfast in that hotel and I dont think New York has a character breakfast now anyhow.

There is a character Bfast at Cafe Mickey which can be booked- I would advise booking before hand. We managed to go there have bfast and still get into parks soon after EMH started. It was good and there was good character interaction and the food was good.

We have never done the Tea party but Ive recently read good reviews so may perhaps do this next time.

I think you need to take into account the time of day of each meal.
Will the park still be open?
Do you want to take a break in the middle of the day?
If the park closes early when you are there would you prefer to have an evening meal with characters so you dont lose too much park time and the magic continues.

These are all things I would take into consideration.

You are right that the characters wont be there at GMF BFast but it still worth doing. It gets you into the park early and gives you a good start. Or the other option is to do as we did one day and go into park early for EMH (8.00) and then book late GMF bfast so we got lot of rides done and then ate as crowds were building up

:cheer2: :cheer2:

and as planning is half of the fun

I definitely agree with you here! :yay:

I prefer to have a character lunch or dinner as opposed to a breakfast because I feel we eat more at those times, but that's just my preference, others probably feel differently. Of course it's reflected in the price, that's why a breakfast is less expensive than lunch or dinner. ;) :rotfl:

The dates you are going you shouldn't have any problems waiting until you are there before booking a meal. Apart from the GMFB, not sure but I believe it is always best to book that in advance???

My family and l are fans of character meals. IMHO it's much more relaxing meeting the characters that way when you have young children than trying to get autographs in the park.

I would recommend the Character Tea at Plaza Gardens, it's good value for money - good food (mainly pastries and desserts, though there were some savory sausage rolls) and the character interaction is great as it is at all character meals IMHO. We are eating there in 3 weeks time, before we have to leave the park for our flight home. We did the same last year. I could see this becoming a tradition of ours, an annual one l hope!

We've been to the character breakfast at Cafe Mickey and character lunch at the Lucky Nugget and l'd recommned those too.

re GMF - it is definitely advisable to book it in advance of your trip, as you could find it is booked fully if you wait until you check-in at your hotel.

having just returned and had the character tea party at plaza gardens at the 5 pm sitting I have to say how fantastic it was. The food was excellent, hot and cold foods, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bread rolls, sausages and sausage rolls and plenty if pastries and puddings as well as many hot and cold drinks as needed PLUS the great character interaction on a smaller scale than at cafe mickey which we expereinced last year and the food at plaza gardens was better. we watched the parade at 4pm then headed straight over and out in time for the end of the candlebration!!!

It was a fab way of Madelane meeting the characters and was taught how to bow from rafiki - it was very special.

Ciao...I would also go for the Character Tea at Plaza Garden...It's a great way to sit down and relax, see the characters...and have a snack !! We were there in Dec so it was a great way to be warm and cozy..:) ..but I'm sure that in Sept it would be great for you to relax. We did the 3 something pm one...since we had not had a big lunch and were having dinner that night at the Cape Cod at the NPBC.

BTW..where in Italy are you ??I'm in Grado (GO) !! Just wondering !

Ciao Martina!!
I am n Siena, 100% Italian and just pretend i can talk in English!!:rotfl2:
But i have a 100% english parter, Brian

Although we have had great character breakfasts in both Hotel New York and Walt's, we also prefer lunches or suppers :goodvibes

During our trip we had 4 character meals:
lunch - Lucky Nugget Saloon
breakfast - Cafe Mickey
dinner - Cafe Mickey
tea - Plaza Gardens

The opposite of others experiences we least enjoyed the character tea-party. Sure its a good chance to meet characters if money is tight. But we found the atmosphere and character interaction was much better at all the others.

The LN was the first we did and we all loved that, in the hot months it would be a wonderful break from the heat and crowds and as well as the characters the food was delicious.

Breakfast at CM was great too, the advantage over breakfast in the hotel was lovely hot options plus of course the characters.

Dinner at CM was brilliant though, the atmosphere was amazing, the excitment when characters came out, the food was gorgeous and of course Mickey himself with no queue's.
