What breakfast options are there for children in the counter service restaurants like Sassagoula Floatworks at POFQ?

My son is a bit of a fussy eater, and for breakfast in hotels only tends to eat cereal (cornflakes or frosties usually), sausages and toast. Can you get those in the CS restaurants? He might go for one of the Mickey waffles perhaps, but I'm not sure about that. He won't eat eggs, pancakes or bacon, so onto a loser there. If there aren't that many options for him to eat, I'm not sure using CS credits for breakfast will be a good use of our credits.

Using CS credits for breakfast is never a good option unless you are struggling to use up your credit allocation.

We stayed at POFQ last year (going back in a month today :cool1:)

Kids options were pretty standard breakfast things, which includes pancakes. What I did when DD was younger was to buy one or two of those multi packs of mini Kelloggs cereals and take those with me.

Otherwise you could rather use a snack credit and let him choose from the grab n go area of the foodcourt OR if you don't mind him eating a muffin or something sweet for breakfast you could save your dessert from the night before and use that for breakfast. We like fruit in the morning so whenever we go to WPE of somewhere that has a fruit bowl for a dessert option, we save it for the next morning

On holiday we always tend to have a big breakfast, and a big evening meal, and don't really have much to eat in the middle of the day - maybe the odd snack perhaps.

I think we may need to reconsider our strategy this time though - it might help to get the family out of the hotel a bit quicker in the morning.

Another question though - can you use the refillable mugs for hot drinks as well as sodas?

When we were there last time we used snack credits for breakfast and the girls had Bagel with cream cheese or a small packet of cereal with milk. They were a bit like cheerios but multi-coloured but the girls ate them!

And yes you can get hot drinks with the refill mugs

Have a great time!

Hot drinks for the resort mugs are tea, coffee and hot cocoa.

I forgot to mention in response to your first post that they do have sausages there. DD doesn't eat bacon and was able to substitute extra sausage for the bacon when she asked with no problems, on more than one occasion.

They do have kids Mickey waffles and if I remember correctly (I know you said your DS doesn't eat pancakes) they also had them with chocolate chips and fruit as an option - not sure if that would entice him at all.

Another option is to just grab a pack of bagels or some bread from the resort shop and drop them into the toaster which you will find at the end of the drinks island. :)

Thanks 2Tiggies - if they do sausages and cereal, then DS will probably be OK. I think he might eat a Mickey waffle too, but you know what kids are like - awkward *******s! DS would never eat a burger until he had one at a friends house - now he would live on them if he could.

Myself, I just love American breakfasts! Highlight of our trip last time was breakfast at Denny's every morning (sad or what!). Started out the holiday with the 3 pancakes, 3 sausages and 3 strips of bacon with maple syrup, but by the end of the holiday we had become 'acclimatised' :rotfl: so we could manage 5 of each for breakfast!!! popcorn::

We tended to eat a quick breakfast in the room and then have an early lunch in the parks with our QS credit 11am ish

Saves time in the morning and avoids QS lunch lines.

I also take things for DD for breakfast like mini boxes of cereal or wrapped brioche rolls.

We tend to get a couplr of boxes of cereal like friut loops and lucky charms and get a couple of cinammon rolls to share for breakfast.

We found the best breakfast (If not at a character meal) was to have cereal in the room. Cheap and easy - save those credits for lunch and dinner where you get better value.

Some great advice for breakfast everyone! I've been wondering what we'll do because our 2 children are fussy eaters too. I like the idea of packing cereal for a quick in-room breakfast. We're staying at ASM which doesn't have in-room fridges. Is milk readily available in the resort? We've got the QSDP - I think I remember reading that milk can be purchased as a snack. Speaking of drinks does anyone know if apple juice is available. It's the only drink (apart from water and milk) that my DD will drink!

Apple and orange juice are available and apple is a common choice (usually in a box) to go with a kids meal. ASM has a fairly decent food court in terms of variety. Milk is available as a snack but not a great use of a snack credit as it is a 200 ml size approximately. You would do better to buy from the resort gift shop, get an ice bucket from your room, fill it with ice from down the corridor (there are ice machines all over the place) and keeping the milk cool in there if you don't care to hire a fridge.

Thanks for that - really helpful. I presume it's ok with customs to take cereals into the US?

Yes, it's no problem at all. Always remember to declare that you are taking food in though. It is easy to forget about a box of cereal in the hold luggage when you just want to clear security and get to your resort/villa  When I have taken I have always declared that I have 'food', they ask what you brought with you, you tell them cereal and they are fine with that.
