We are heading down next Saturday (driving) and would love to show our kids the ocean as well as get a bite to eat for breakfast. Our first idea was to drive down A1A and find a restaurant in St. Augustine but unfortunately now restaurants that are on the beach are open for breakfast. Does anyone know by chance a great place to see the ocean and have breakfast? Our plan is to leave the restaurant and head to WDW so we would prefer not to go south past Orlando. Thanks!

Hmmm... I don't know anything about this place???? Definitely intrigues me!!! Is there info somewhere on this site? Thank you!!

We love to eat breakfast at Flagler Beach Pier, located on the A1A, about 30 minutes south of St. Augustine. Not a fancy place, but the food is fine and the views...AMAZING!

Wow - I went from not finding any restaurants to having to decide! Thanks so much!

This sounds really interesting to me too. These are on the way driving to WDW, correct? For instance, we are driving from Chicago, coming thru Atlanta. I'm sure it's a bit out of the way, but about how far?

If you are driving through Atlanta then I would assume you are taking I-75 to Orlando. Unfortunately, heading east to A1A would take you several hours off course. I would only recommend it if you were taking I-95 to get to Orlando.

This is where the newbie cross country driver in me comes in. If I am coming from Chicago, is there a way to take 95? How far out of our way would it be? I would love for my kids to see the ocean, and if we are driving and want to take our time, I don't see why we couldn't fit this in....

If the primary goal is to see the ocean and you're driving down I-75, the simplest detour would be to go over to the Clearwater area for a day.

You'd only be a little more than an hour from Orlando and it's a very nice beach.
