Breakfast at Contempo Cafe

We'd like to have breakfast at Contempo Cafe before going to MK in the morning; will they allow a ride share to drop us off there, or do we have to drop at TTC? It's in late September, if it makes any difference.

No, a ride share is not allowed to drop you off there for a QS meal. You’d need to park at TTC, and take the resort monorail, which will stop at the Contemporary last. Also you could take the ferry boat or MK monorail to MK, then walk to the Contemporary.

For what its worth, a rideshare dropped us off at the Poly to go to Trader Sam's, 2 months ago, so very recent. We told him that we didn't have a reservation and he said no problem. When we pulled to the gate, he flashed something, I'm assuming some sort of ID and the gate guard let him through, no questions. Maybe we were lucky?

Security is suppose to verify your entry to the resort - whether you’re a guest, are a DVC member, have a dining or activity reservation, signed up for a DVC tour, etc. - but it’s not uncommon that they accept your explanation without verifying it. You need to present ID to get into the hotels, hence what your driver likely provided.

Seems like Disney is primarily trying to block people from parking at the hotels and using their transportation to get to the theme parks. In the evening, they’re far more liberal in allowing you in without verifying. Obviously that won’t help the OP .

No it won't help me, but the points you make are good.
I think you are right that there are certain times of the day where it would be easier maybe, and that since we are staying in another Disney resort that might help our case a little bit? Especially if we don't arrive just around park opening.
I guess we'll just have to decide if we want to take the risk, and worst case the driver can drop us off at TTC.

Staying at another Disney resort isn’t really a factor they consider. But since you are, just take a bus to MK & walk over to Contemporary or take the monorail. Then you won’t have to worry about it. Just note if you take the monorail you’ll have to go thru security at MK first.

IDK where you’re staying, but truthfully there’s not much at Contempo cafe you can’t get at any other Disney resort QS. Not sure it’s really worth the trouble to have breakfast there.
