So, help me unscramble in my head the best way to plan a breakfast at CRT but still make the most of seeing the Rope Drop on a morning EMH day. Although I'm reading posts that rope drop on EMH isn't as much of a show. But, if it's the only rope drop we see and having never seen one before, is it still worth it? What time should we request ADRs for CRT?

Also, partly related, how long does it take to get to MK from POR resort? What exactly is the transportation to get to the rope drop? Would we be better off driving ourselves or taking the bus? I want to get an idea of what time we'd need to leave our resort to be at MK early to see rope drop.

Thanks!

I don't know anything about rope drop and would be interested to hear the answers to your questions too. Is rope drop just when they open the park? Does something special happen then or is it just that you're first into the park? :confused3

Rpoe drop is when the gates open. The opening show at MK is about 10 minutes before that on a regular opening day. I'm not sure if the opening show is different on EMH days or not but assuming there is a show to see on those days, I would make reservations for 15-20 minutes after opening. Maybe just a little longer if you want to linger, walk slowly, take pictures etc.

To the other poster, the welcome show at MK is definitely something to see if you never have. The train carrying Mickey and friends pulls up to the station with the family of the day, there is some singing, dancing, spraying of confetti. It us a great way to start your day at MK.

FIrst off- LOVE LOVE LOVE  MK rop drop. I think it's the best of the bunch. I even used the rope drop Welcome Med. as the background music when we surprised our girls with their last trip. My dream is to get there early enough and have a lurking CM choose us as the first family and get to ride in on the train with all of the characters.

As for timing it...any time right 8 or after would technically work. I had some friends do this with Crystal Palace and EMH. We got them in at 8:25a for CP and they got rope drop + plenty of time to work their way up MSUSA. Last time we were at CRT they would let anyone chk in more than 10 min in advance of their ADR, and I'm sure you don't want to sprinting from the entrance to the castle, so some time between 8:15 and 8:30 would probably be good. If you have something between 8 and 8:15 you would probably be let in before the end of the rope drop show, but this would not be the way to go if you want to see the show. Then again- I've been allowed in at 7:50 when I had an 8:25. In any event- it all comes down to seeing the show in your case. If you want to see the show- I'd go for a slightly later ADR so you can make it to the castle without too much rushing and chaos.

We love MK rope drop. The gitls love to see the charaters arriving train.

that being said, If it was my reservation, I would probably do breakfast around 9:15 - 9:30. Like that, you take full advantage of the EMH which is probably the less busy time of the day and you will probably be able to do lots of what you would want to do in the kiddos side of the world before breakfast.

What we're doing for our breakfast ADRs is making them for about 10 AM so we can take advantage of rope drop and the short lines on all the rides that early in the morning. We LOVE being there when we can walk onto the rides at MK, like Dumbo for the little one, or Splash Mountain, or the Railroad roller coaster (what's that called??).

I have no idea if our strategy makes sense to others though...

You will love the rope drop show at MK! It's definitely my favorite!

Enjoy!
