I know many BBers mention the Albertson's grocery chain from time-to-time (and there seem to be some differences between Albertson's in the West versus locations in places like Texas and Florida).
It was announced, this morning that Supervalu, the owner of the Albertson's stores in the West, will sell that chain (along with chains Acme Markets, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's/Star, and all in-store pharmacies) to the private equity firm who already owns the Albertson's stores in Florida and the Southwest, effectively reuniting that chain of stores to its' pre-2005 state (and in the process, making them unrelated to long-time Supervalu stores Cub Foods, Farm Fresh, and Shop n' Save).
Bottom line is soon, all Albertson's stores and promotions will once again be one and the same, and certain supermarkets will no longer be related.
