The thread "Have you ever had a shock" had me thinking, when are these groups usually at WDW? I would certainly like to avoid them if at all possible.

Definately July! July is when we almost always go. We were just there end of April and when we got home one of the first things we said was "Hey, we didn't see one group from Brazil!"

Has the terrorism scare kept some of them away? We were there July 2000 and are returning this July and I'm sorry but we're really hoping that they're too scared to come!!! They were really loud, obnoxious, and they practically mow you over.

THose groups have also been there if full force when we've been at WDW during Easter week.

lol, JULY!! They were every where..not putting down brazileans, but they were kind of obnoxious.

I have nothing against people from Brazil or anywhere else for that matter but the manners of the teens we encountered left a lot to be desired- to say the least!!!

I think they are very loud and have no manners either. I don't have anyting against Brazilians but they are very rude. They always seem to run into you!

Although I have never encounted these groups (or maybe I have and never knew it) I think it should be clarified that that this does not pertain to all Brazilian groups. I am sure there are plenty of Brazilians who do have manners.... and good hygeine. I don't think anyone wants to see this thread turn into a bashing session. Just some words of advice.

Well said, kdibattista. I love your clipart, by the way, kdibattista :teeth:

This is a topic that can become insulting to an entire nationality. I don't want to see that happen.

Just in case that there are other times of the year besides July and/or Easter when large tour groups of any nationality are at WDW, I'm going to allow this thread to remain open a while longer.

Please do not take this as permission to discuss hygiene, behavior or anything else that could be considered insulting to an entire group of people. That is actually considered racism and has no place on the DIS.

Remember that we have people on the DIS from all over the world. That includes Brazil.

I'm hoping this thread does not have to be locked. Be respectful of everyone, please, and it won't be.

This topic was covered non-stop many years ago on CompuServes Florida forum. Although I never ran across the "Brazilizn Tees ( T-Shirts that is, with their flags)", the problem as I understand it is minimal to no adult supervision.

Imagine a large group of American teens on vacation in Rio with little to no adult supervision. I would think a good portion of them would be perceived by the locals as unruly, rude, obnoxious, etc...

While the kids may be rude I lay the blame on the adults / parents who allow the kids to roam WDW unattended.

Just my $.02

We encountered a group of South American nationality 2 summers ago (JULY) and it was awlful. We were staying at the All Stars (Music) as were the group. We did avoid many rides when the group was on them, because of an earlier problem of rudeness. The singing and chanting was so loud you could not hear the dialogue of the ride (for example: the great movie ride). So we would just asked not to be queued up when it looked like we would be in the same ride. But we never got away from it. It continued at the All Stars. One instance was when my then 7 year old grandson was waiting in line at the resort (character mornings) for an autograph and a couple of the girls came straight to the front of the line and shoved him out of the way. Let's just say Nana got ugly at that point. It did not ruin our trip, but did make it stressful. The pool, buses and food court was chaos. We have encountered lots of groups and mostly things go well, but that trip won't be forgotten. We never stay at the All Stars in the summer anymore--spring and fall, but never summer after that trip.

PS: moderator, hope I didn't offend anyone, just tried to stick to the facts of our first hand knowledge. :D

Let me clarify my comment about hygiene! I was merely making a statement pertaining to tmbasuhre comment about what they've encountered. This has been an experience of mine with my encounters. I NEVER SAID ALL BRAZILIAN PEOPLE ARE RUDE OR DON"T HAVE GOOD HYGIENE. Please don't put words in my mouth. Being half Puerto Rican, I have experienced racist comments toward myself and wouldn't want to generalize on a particular ethnic group!

I don't recall mentioning you by name, AspiringCindy, you did, however, throw the word "hygiene" into the mix. I think we all know that these threads often grab a word like hygiene and expand on it greatly.

I'm not going to argue about this. If everyone would prefer that this thread be locked just use the "report this post to a moderator" button in the lower left corner.

The topic of this post is:

when are these groups usually at WDW? I would certainly like to avoid them if at all possible.

Please confine your replies to the topic.

Oh no! Not July! We will be there July 19 - 27. We went in early August once and didn't see anything. What about their attendance since 9/11 and the war in Iraq? Do the groups tend to wander far enough apart that you can spot one and go another way? We don't care what order we do things in and would rather go another direction than be bothered. Dangit. Would you say you had one enounter a day or was it nearly constant. For instance, was the dinner at Norway the one problem that day or was it at every ride?

Also, do they tend to stay on-site? Was your expensive hotel stay ruined by hooping and hollering in the halls?

After a bad experience in Central Park after a certain parade, I don't think I'd handle this well!

Thanks all.

I don't know why to worry so much about Brazilian groups , I can think of other ethnic groups who do the exact same thing , and I don't even have to leave this country. Bottom line is, nice and rude people are everywhere .

Amen to that, Kanga........ I am keeping an eye on this thread, so far we are staying on topic and are within guidelines... Have a great evening everyone..

We have run across the "Toursimo's" late July/early August. I do believe that Disney has come to realize this as somewhat of a distraction to other guests. There was a time when a member of the group would wait in line and when they got close to boarding a mass of their counterparts would appear out of nowhere and cut in line. Disney now, or at least our last trip at that time of year, clearly posts this is not an option.

It's all what you make of it I guess.
