I have just learned of this phenomenon. I suspect this may be a touchy subject, so please believe I am not trying to stir anything up.

My only question is, does this usually occur in the summer or could this happen at any time of the year? How likely is it in Oct?

The bulk of the groups are there in July. We have been in early August and haven't had an issue. When we went in January we did see a few tour groups, but it was just a couple so we were able to go to something else in the park to avoid getting caught up in the crowds.

I don't think you'll have a problem in October.

I'll subscribe to see if someone explains what's "special" about these Brazilian Tour Groups!!

:laughing:Nevermind. Googled it. 'Nuff said.

Thank you so much!!

We had quite a few in January of 2007, it was their summer break. Remember that the seasons are opposite in the Southern Hemisphere. October there is like April here. We had some trouble at Crystal Palace, but ran into the same group in line for Thunder Mountain and they were very nice. The leader let me and my daughter go ahead of them (there must have been 200 or so) and I had a nice conversation with her. I don't know how it would be in October though.

We ran into a lot of them in January.

I will say I didn't see any eye-popping bad behavior or anything. The biggest problem for us was their sheer numbers. They all travel together in huge groups. We always tried to go left if they went right :rotfl:

Ditto. We were also there in Jan and had no issues other than their huge numbers!!! Tons of them traveling in packs!

According to a dad I met from Argentina in WDW this past January, many people in South American countries are on vacation for the months of January and July so that's when you'll see the bulk of them. I agree that it's just the large numbers that make them seem overwhelming. We got to witness quite a scene one night when returning to MK for EMH just as Wishes finished. Tons and tons of these groups were exiting all at the same time and all trying to out-do eachother with their cheering/singing. Toss in several cheerleading/dance groups for good measure! I was glad we were going in and not fighting our way out.

I can't stand going anywhere and seeing any tour group, no matter what/who they are. I mean, is it fair to go into a restaurant and see a group of 200 infront of you?!? Or try going through futureland (or whatever the name if it is!) and you can't because there are just so many of them?! I think they should be forced to break up into smaller groups...

I saw them the first week of August one year. But I think that's about the outside of the time they're visiting.

The only real problem I saw was they always stay in large groups. So if you see them getting on a line, just choose a different ride and come back later.

I'm blonde, can I ask the question, "How many are in a Brazillion". ;)

I have seen them in Jan too. The numbers are big. One time, my parents stayed off site for a couple days last Jan, and the hotel was crammed with them. They were not good in line, cutting basically, at the food court area. Like they had to be in line together and couldn't stand to have 2 people inbetween them?

I'll go with January too...we've seen them both years we've gone in January...and the bulk of them were nice but it was a hassle to move around them. We did have one group that was terribly rude, cut lines, and the like. Grrr!

Yup, they were there when we went in January too. I did my research and I didn't see anything that would have warned me. I will never go back in January. The parks were just so much more crowded. We didn't witness any rude behavior - just some loud, boisterous, exciteable behavior. It is DW, afterall. Oh, and I missed hearing the English language. :rotfl:

I still have nightmares about flags being carried around DW, though.... :lmao:
