Oh man we just got back from a weekend trip to IO and US - and I have never seen this many south American tour groups.

The staff at the hotels were joking "a billion Brazilians"

What made this unique was that the single rider lines were so jammed - they had to close the lines down because they got so long. They were like zombie hordes - they would crush the single rider lines and also the express lines. I have never seen the express lines and the single rider lines backed up that far on rides like Mummy, and Gringots.

Oh well - we still had a good time, but there were rides we had to keep going back to check if the lines got shorter. When the ride attendant asks "how many are in your party?" We would hear responses back like "15" "20" "18"

Anyone else ever have an experience like this?

No, and we were there just before you. We saw lots of Brazilian families, but few tour groups.

I was down last week and experienced this somewhat. There were a lot of groups, but I didn't feel like it added too much time to my waits and I used the single rider line a lot.

The only time it did bother me was at the hotel (Cabana Bay). My room was on a low floor near the pool and the yelling and singing at the pool got really old as it got later. Luckily security shut it down when the pool closed at 11.

They were there in September too. Didn't affect us much until we got the Forbidden Journey. In the lockers I got pushed against the wall while I was trying to remove our stuff. But that's the only problem I had.

Just got home today and my DD asked on Sat. is anyone left in Brazil this weekend?

There were some large groups of young girls when we were there in early December. Maybe only two groups but up to 100 girls in each group. We just went the other way when we saw them coming because we didn't want to be stuck in huge line for a ride.
It's January now though so I imagine there are way more than when we were there.

As an aside we were at Disney for Pop Warner week this year and a group of about 30 tween cheerleaders sat behind us for the parade. Loudest creatures on earth I tell you.
There was about 45 minutes to go and they decided to do "Buddy Photos" where two by two these girls would leap over our heads to stand on Main Street and take every possible combo of photos with a buddy. It was so absurd it was kind of funny. Then as I was shoved into the quiet man beside me so yet another buddy photo pair could push through us, he looked at me completely dead pan and said "Well now we're close.. Buddy photo?".. I lost it. I've never laughed so hard in my life and we both lamented we'd forgotten our giant hair bows. :rotfl2:

Sometimes you have to laugh so you don't cry.:lmao:

I have been experiencing this over the past few days in a pool-view room on the third floor. In all candor, I didn't realize it was possible for people to yell this loud. It does stop at pool closure time, as you mentioned, but it does make me wonder if everyone in Brazil is yelling all the time.

I am considering staying at Cabana Bay the end of September, however large raucous groups like this are a real concern!!

I was there at the end of September during 2014. I didn't see them too much of the groups at Cabana Bay. I only saw them at the park. I think that you will be okay.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reassurance, CB is back to being my top pick then :)

They didn't look like traditional tour groups but I say what looked like several Brazilian groups of teens at Cabana Bay during my week there. For the most part at I had no problems with the groups at the resorts other than the Freestyle Machines being consistently out of something. I got the refillable cup primarily for Sprite Zero and I consistently had to look at 2 or 3 machines to find one not grayed out. But I'm not sure I can completely blame that on the groups. In the parks, I never saw large groups of people clog up the single rider line. But, some rides like Gringotts, and Transformers consistently had a line in the single rider line.

I can't stop crying :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I experienced this last year when I went the last week of January... a seaworld staff member told me that Orlando as a whole has been doing heavy advertising in South America. Not sure why this time of year appeals to them. I'm staying onsite at RPR for a week Feb 1-6th so I'll let you all know what I see.

This may be the funniest thing I have ever heard. Maybe I can replace my "BTG on my airplane while I have a pregnancy migraine" memory with this one!!!!

We were there in February last year and encountered a couple of those Brazilian groups. They are incredibly obnoxious with their singing and chanting and yelling. They all started running for the bathroom and practically ran down my small children. We steered clear of them also as best we could.

December & January is the summer school break in Brazil.

We just got home today and there were tour groups everywhere!!!! I have gone before in Jan and July when they are prevalent, but this blew those prior times out of the water. It was ONE tour flag after another and it was impossible to avoid any of them( which is what we usually do) ..We had to line up and wait 45 mins to eat at Krusty burger since they were ONLY seating tourgroups of 45-65 people at a time..It was pure insanity..We had fun, but it was claustrophobic at times and apparently the larger groups expect everyone to get out of their way ( they shoved my 11 yr old so hard when they saw the seuss characters that she landed on the pavement). It was constantly like playing "chicken" with them because they would walk straight at you, expect you to move and slam into you if you didn't..It was exhausting

If somebody slams my 11-year-old nephew, we're going to have a problem. And if they want to play chicken with me, I'll win, sizewise. :rotfl2:

I see that most of the rooms at the deluxe hotels are sold out for some of the days we are there. I only booked the first week in February because I thought it was a slow time. I hope we don't have any trouble. My husband doesn't like rides, but he is going for the Simpsons food court.

It's interesting that you mentioned this...we were there just before Thanksgiving. There were no large Brazilian tour groups, but I did notice many groups of about 4 or more people doing this. They would walk side by side on the sidewalk taking up almost the entire width and WOULD NOT move when people were coming from the other direction. I was bumped (roughly) more than once on our three day trip, and in areas where it wasn't so crowded and people could avoid each other. It boggles my mind that groups of people would take up the entire sidewalk and expect those of us coming in the other direction to literally "veer off the beaten path" to avoid them. I observed some other odd behavior on that trip and started wondering if this is just the new normal in places like theme parks.
