I know all that is being said about it..not being good for u etc.

But have u had it done? i am scheduled to have it done in two weeks - a bit afraid about everything they say but also being its coming into summer and i will be swimming etc. i had to spend $ and then it washes out sooner than later.

do u have it? what r your thoughts? how often do u wash ur hair? what about swimming in the pool or ocean?

thanks

I have had the Coppola one two years in a row. I wash my hair every day and swim in a pool on the weekends. Last year I had it done in april and it lasted through September. My advice is to make sure the one you are having done is formaldahyde free, and to use the shampoo and conditioner they give you. It will really extend the life of the treatment. You can buy replacement shampoo and conditioner for the Coppola treatment at drugstore.com right now it's buy 2 get 30% off.

And do you still have to use a flat iron to smooth hair out.
DD has a bit of frizz in the front inch strands of her head. We're able to manage things somewhat with letting the hair dry naturally and then oiling/ironing it, though she's got so much hair it takes a long time and it gets rather full looking as well as needing at least 4+ hands.
We're really considered the investment for this treatment but have been told by stylist that she'd still need to iron the hair. Is this true? Also how does the hair come out afterwards? Is it soft and manageable? We use the Chi on her with the Chi oil and "cook" the hair soft. It actually smokes with the iron (looks somewhat scary seeing the smoke yet when it's out of the Chi the hair is scorching hot but smooth and soft).
Is it worth the investment and how much upkeep is necessary?
TIA
Carolyn

I have never had it done, as my hair is naturally straight and boring. However, I ALWAYS see these on Groupon and Groupon-like places. I would do some research if you can to try to save some $$$.

For me I have it done so I can give my hair a rest from the flat iron during the summer. I have wavy hair that gets frizzy in damp humid air. The frizz is gone while using this treatment. For work I use the blow dryer for about two minutes and my chin-length hair is dry, no iron needed. Although my stylist will use the iron when i get it cut and it looks REALLY good then. I really like it and don't mind the $250 price tag. Just make sure it is the NATURAL treatment and not the one with formaldahyde. If you have to wear a mask to have it done turn around and leave!

I have very curly hair and I had this done in January. I still have to flat iron my hair if I want it to be straight (I can also wear it curly, and the curls are looser and softer than before the treatment), but it's much easier and faster now, and it stays straight even in humid or drizzly conditions. I was told to avoid chlorine and salt water as much as possible. If I were going to go swimming, I would probably wet my hair with clean water first and comb some conditioner through it to help limit the amount of salt/chlorinated water that gets absorbed.

ETA... I had the Coppola keratin treatment, not the Brazilian treatment.

I got it done in Med February and I am ready for another treatment. My hair is long and the Coppola treatment did nto straighten it, but took out almost all the frizz and left my curls looser, like a wavy style rather than a curly look. IMO, worth all $200. I will do it again soon because they say that the more you do the treatment, the better it comes out each time.

I wash and condition my hair with Loreal Ever Pure (Sulfate Free) about 5 times a week. I wish I could wash it less, but the one negative about the keratin treatment (other than dropping $200 each time) is that I used to be able to get an extra day after washing and styling it. I could wake up and make it work without washing it. That is totally out now, as sleeping on it causes it to be 20% straight and 80% wave, rendering it impossible to salvage for the day, minus a pony tail.

My profile pic happened to be taken the day of my treatment, where they iron you out pin straight. It doesnt stay that way. I tried to blow dry and iron it after a wash or two and it was just as much work as it was before my treatment. Maybe after the second one, it will be easier. :wizard:

the one i'm getting is the BKT - it will cost me $160.00

After reading reviews i hear the BKT and the Coppola one both have some harmful stuff in it...will make sure the front door is open - getting good ventilation..

i have to wait 3 days b4 washing it as well - it should take about 2 hours - my hair is only shoulder length
