Brazilian Blowout for Hair?

It's been two weeks and five washings, I'm still happy! We went to the beach on the weekend, 100% humidity one night and no frizz. I have never been able to skip a day or two washing my hair, go outside, etc. and still have no frizz. I'm hoping it lasts through August, we have our nephew's wedding on August 19th. I'm due for a trim/styling, the woman who did my hair went on vacation the day of my treatment and just got home.

I think I will definitely be keeping up with these treatments every few months! This is just a quick blow dry, no styling:

Before I would have looked like a witch/lion/poodle, lol.

Thank you for continuing to update and allowing all of us to see what the results are as time goes on. Looking great still!

:offtopic: But just opened this thread after the thread on not having extra money to save for retirement. Hmmmm, how much could people save for retirement if they just left their hair the way it grows out of your head? LOL.
:sail:

How bizarre that you think you have the right to presume. You not only aren't paying the bill, you have absolutely no facts to make such a suggestion.

LOL. It is a discussion board, and exactly like I posted, there is another popular thread right here on spending versus saving for retirement. Not bizarre, it is exactly what discussion boards are all about.

It's completely off-topic. Why not just post your original comment in the thread about having enough to save for retirement? (since that would be on topic there...)

OP, thanks for continuing to update and post photos!!

Yep, you got me. It's a discussion board, therefore it's entirely appropriate to shade someone's choice in an entirely different thread as fiscally irresponsible with absolutely nothing else but your inference that it's an inappropriate expenditure. Are you going to offer your pronouncement on each and every expenditure mentioned in every thread?

LOL, maybe I should also post a pic of my new car? Shame on me! :upsidedow

The third week my hair starting to look fuzzy in humidity. I called my stylist and explained what was happening. She said it
was unusual, but to come in and she would do it over for me. We had back to back vacations, so at exactly 5 weeks (yesterday) I went in and she did the treatment again for free. I also got a haircut, was there for a total of two hours. I tipped as if I was paying for the treatment because of her time. Hoping it "sticks" this time.

What kind of shampoo are you using? And on your vacations did you go swimming? I was told to use a sulfate free shampoo and not get salt water or chlorine water on my hair because it would wear away the blowout since its just a sealant around the hair.

I'm due to get another one next week and can't wait. I typically get it done very 6 months (before a big vacation) but really should do every 3 or so.

I am using OGX Keratin Straightening shampoo and conditioner. I did go in the ocean a couple of times on vacation, which is when it frizzed. I know to be more careful this time.

Anyone have experience with either a Brazilian blow out or keratin treatment on dyed gray hair?

The grayer my hair becomes the more the texture is changing. It is becoming very wiry and unruly- I describe it as "witchy". I color my hair every 4-5 weeks.

Thanks!

I've been dying my hair for about 40 years, I think I would be entirely salt and pepper at this point without it. I think the problem with my blowout was my fault for going in salt water. If you see my hair in the before and then the after, the results were wonderful with the blowout.

I've been thinking of getting my daughter this. She is starting high school in the fall, has lots of thick curly/wavy and frizzy hair. She wants to wear it down and straight(she said the high school girls wear it like that more), so hoping it works. She said even if she wears it down and it's wavy, she's OK with that, just doesn't want the frizz.

Thank you for taking the time to keep us all updated. I remain curious to see how well this process works.

Wait!!!
You can wash your hair after the blow out and it doesn't curl back up?'
I got a lot to learn.. I've always said no to the idea .. thinking it was a huge waste of $$

I got a 6 month keratin treatment on my hair a few weeks ago. I LOVE it. The frizz is gone. I still have my waves but no poffiness. Also when I straighten my hair it's much smoother and takes half the time. I'll be keeping up with this on a regular basis.

My hairdresser told me not to do the Brazilian blowout because it's much harsher on the hair.

There are different processes. Most people think I am talking about what my hairdresser calls "Japanese Straightening". That is the one where you have to wait 3 days to wash, can't get a kink in it when you sleep, etc. Mine was just for frizz, not curls. You can wash, dye, etc. right away.
