my dd8 (going into 4th grade) has been wearing a sports-type bra, but is complaining that her nipples show through (and they do). But the other bras I see for little girls are underwire and too padded (i've looked in target). Anyone have a suggestion for a thick, but not really padded bra for girls? I don't want her to look any 'bigger' than she is, but I don't want her nipples showing either. tia!

Sorry I don't have a constructive answer - but I just have to say...

WHAT the H??? UNDERWIRE bras for little girls?????? That's just freakin' insane!

I started to develop early but I don't remember having problems (other than being embarrased to death) finding an appropriate bra. Good luck on your search.

You just have to keep searching. I found some non-underwire at Target and also at Kohl's. Hint about Kohl's. Look at the bras in the childrens dept. They are the same as in the womens, but a heck of a lot cheaper. (They have sizes like 34B in the childrens dept.)

Good luck!

JC Penny that's where we found ours they are cute too lots to choose from my DD is also going into the 4th grade and :scared1: ****s, so we did a girls day, the only thing is if you want to buy the double bra pack they are attached and you cant have her try them on, I did tell them that did not help us :) But it is in the preteen girls section not the womens - good luck

I totally agree!! Ridiculous! But it goes along w/ all the other little girl clothes they have out now that are totally inappropriate. sigh...

DD 10 gets hers at Kohls. We have the best luck there. Have you tried any stores that cater (sp?) to tweens? Maybe Justice or Limited Too might have what you are looking for.

We've had the same problem. Thanks for the advice about Kohl's and Penny's. I also couldn't believe the underwire. These are bras made for little girls who are just starting to develop. They need something to cover them, not support.

We just bought my dd11 (just starting to develop a little) a bra today at Limited 2. Some of the bras there were what I considered inappropriate (padded, etc.), but the one we chose has a couple layers and covers nicely. Good luck! It's so hard to buy cute, stylish, and yet not too "mature" girls' clothing these days....

Okay, my mom just told me the other day that I needed to get my daughter 8 a training bra soon...I said what? she's only 8!!!! And now I see that I am not the only one with this dilemma...I don't think I'm ready for this!!! Ahhhhh!!!!

I was looking last week for my daughter and found some at Walmart also. Careful tho, the Mary Kate and Ashley brand are padded with underwire.

My 7 year old..who really doesn't need a bra...no ****ie in sight...LOL, but she really wanted one. When I looked at the little bras in Walmart, I was expecting little white bras, maybe a little pink bow in the middle..something modest...instead, I was taken aback with these crazy colors, THICK padding and underwire..I couldn't believe it. We managed to find her a bra and panty set, and the bra looks like a sports bra. She loves it..and sadly, she wants another set. LOL...I'm soooo not ready for this.

I was censored for saying B-o-o-b...I guess I should say..Tata..LOL

We've gotten our DD her training bras at Target. She likes them. They come in white or other colors. I think the brand is exhiliration. She only needs to wear them with certain shirts.

I can't believe she is in a training bra at 8, too. My niece was also 8 when she started to wear them.

What do they put in that chocolate milk she drinks.

i got bras for DD10 at old navy & sears. yes, they're padded, but she likes that b/c she's VERY self-conscious about her nipples showing through her clothes.

I just noticed my dd9 should really get one too. I dread doing the bra search for her but it had to happen sooner or later. Just as long as her period holds off for at least two more years.
I don't see why they continue to try to force our kids into more and more inappropriate clothing. Someone must be buying the Juicy pants and micro bikinis for their six year old kids or they wouldn't keep it up. I went shopping for next summer and the shorts they had were so small they were almost panties. I don't mind short but come on, her underwear would have been poking out the bottom.

don't know how much a young girl would buy into this suggestion (esp. if her heart is set on getting a bra:rolleyes: ) but if the need is purely for coverage of that one area that's protruding there are products that are similar to pasties for this very purpose. they come in a variety of sizes and are popular with dancers for use with costumes that a bra absolutly can't be worn with (when i danced we actualy made our own out of the medium sized round bandaids:eek: :rotfl: ).

I know I sometimes have that same problem and so I was going to suggest a produce out there called a petal. You can by them in places like Wlamart, Target and even some very nice department stores. You could get the self adhesive(sp) ones but they my be a pain to put on and take off not to metion a little painful for someone like your daughter. Either you can purchase some kind and sew them in your daughter's bra or you can buy the Maiden Form bars in her size that have them already built in. I'm sure they're not cheap but they might be worth a look.

My 10yr old wears a sport bra type of style of bra and most of them are sent over from Holland were my in-laws are from but recently we've bought her some and found them by Fruit of the Loom at the local Walmart and so far she finds them very comfortable. When she remembers to wear one. LOL

T.

Actually I have found some at Target that are thicker and not very padded. They are just a little more coverage. My dd is 11 and she likes them. The sports bra ones that they sell were too thin for her to wear under anything other than a sweater. She also likes the ones they sell in a 2 pack- looks like a bikini top- those seem to be a little thicker yet no padding at all.

And on the pasties I am lol. My dd saw the naked cowgirl in NYC (a woman that wears pasties and a skirt and a cowboy hat) She was 10 at the time and she called her "Stickers"
