BP Spill Flordia Beach trip

We were planning on going to Florida next week, but it does not look good for our beach and the oil spill.

We have a spot near Destin. So now we are considering going across florida to Jacksonville or St. Augustin. Are there good beaches there. Does anyone have suggestions for how we could alter our trip. Any travel agents out there?

Hi,
We drove through Destin on our way home. There is NO oil there! It was beautiful. We stopped on the beach for like 20 minutes and spoke with people vacationing there and asked about them seeing any tar balls. There aren't any! Go! It's beautiful!

And plenty of clear blue/green water...

If it were me, I'd go.

I was going to say the same. I have a friend there right now and she posted photos on Facebook yesterday and said there is nothing in the water there or on the beach.

Hopefully the oil will stay away from most of the beaches. Have a good trip.

If you do choose to not go to Destin, St. Augustine and Jacksonville are both beautiful! We got back from there on June 7 and they were beautiful. I love St. A and they have several beautiful beaches. We usually stay at the Regency Inn but I think there is a Days Inn. You walk across the rd and are in the parking lot for the pier. They have a wonderful children's splash pad and playground. You can rent equipment or bring your own and go out on the pier and fish. I think it is $2/day to go out on the pier but honestly I don't remember. But the beaches are beautiful. Also check out roomsaver.com for coupons. We were able to have rooms for $50/night. Are you planning on driving or flying?

We are driving from Houston this weekend.

We are going to stay at Grayton Beach State Park in some cabins they have for rent.

And I forgot one other thing. St. A has a Disney outlet store.....I would highly recommend checking it out if you get to go!
