My son has outgrown his winter coat. I was hoping it would last this year also, but he wore it today and it is too snug. He is almost 8, and his current coat is a size 10/12, so I guess we need to get a 14!
Just wondering if anyone has seen any good deals? I want something that is good in snow, as we live in Ohio and already had some today.
I like Lands End and LL Bean, but wasn't sure which coat would be best. We have the Wildcat jacket from LL Bean, but it doesn't seem warm enough to me. He has been wearing that for milder temps.

Gander Mountain had their Columbia coats 40% off when I was in there today. Those are nice, otherwise Sears should carry Lands End coats and you can probably find a code online.

If u have a Sears store near u that has a Land's End Shop -- they have winter coats/pants at 50% off.

DS10 needs a new coat-- only problem is he is already wearing LE size 18-20. The store had a very few styles of men's coat. An at 50% off they were still over $80. I measured his chest and he needs a Men's medium.

Good luck

Do you have a Dick's in your area? They had a decent selection of ski jackets on a clearance rank that included North Face, Columbia, and others. Last time I was at Marshall's they had Spyder ski jackets for around $40 for adult sizes. Many of these jackets run small. DD went from a LE 10-12 to a women's small in North Face. It could just be that women's are cut small though. Before buying the jacket check to see if there is a temp rating. I buy anything that covers below 0 degrees and DDs are often hot when we go skiing or sledding.

Try a thrift store; you never know what you might find.

We just bought our boys (6 & 8) down jackets at Costco for $35 each. They love them and are quite warm!

Bought my 2 DS's (10 & 9)each one from Target, $19.99. They like it, really warm and not bulky.:thumbsup2

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I tried searching online and found nothing, so I think I will go out on Friday and look locally at the stores suggested.

We have a couple of consignment stores and thrift stores that seem to always have a good supply of winter/snow items.

Here is my trick (I have 3 BOYS remember!).......when I find really good quality jackets/coats, gloves, hats, and snow pants, I BUY them when they are $4 at the thrift store. If noone can fit them now, I put them in our winter bin in the garage. Someone will fit it eventually! I buy in summer too if I find them. Most of our stuff is Lands' End, Columbia, and even a North Face in there! :thumbsup2

My latest find in a size 12 was this for my oldest (and will last through all 3 kids I am sure!) for $4 at the thrift store. I found it in blue.
