Boys will be 4.5 and just turned 7 on our trip. At the moment, both kids insist that they want to visit CRT. I am thinking lunch there might be nice (provided I can get an ADR). However, for all those of you who have been before: Do you think the boys will feel funny surrounded by all girls? Will they be the only boys there? I don't mind paying for CRT but would rather not if the boys are likely to balk at the last minute or will feel embarrassed.

What do you think? Would CRT be fun for little boys too?

If they like princesses and won't feel out of place having pretty young women fawn all over them, they will have fun. My 9 year old told me this year he wants to go with DD and me (we girls have done it without the boys on our last two trips), so I'm taking him. He said he wants to see the inside of the castle, and I figure he should be able to.

There are mostly girls, but there are also families with boys, too, and the boys get a plastic sword. Also, when my boys were about the ages of yours we did Akershus, and the princesses do make an effort with the boys as well. I remember Jasmine teasing them about being DD's "dwarfs" because DD was wearing her Snow White costume.

We just went and DS 9 went with us. The princesses are good and getting the vibe from the boys. They left DS alone. He got a sword at the end. He was VERY happy!

We went last June. My son was 6. We went w/ my niece(5) and nephew(3).
Anyway my son and nephew dressed in matching pirates outfits (too cute!) It was fun, Snow White came up and said "oh my pirates, are you a good pirate or a bad pirate?"
My son thought the princesses were pretty, he liked Jasmine the best.
Oh, and the boys get swords.

I've never ever thought of the Castle as being a "Girl" experience.

CRT is a family tradition, even before my blended family added Girls to the Table......(When DS was 10, and DD1 9, DD2 8)

DS has been to CRT probably 10 + times.....he is 17 now. Last visit - July 2008 - We did CRT early Supper @ 4p or so....He was 16....

He LOVED it....get's pic with Cinderella, A SWORD! And loved the food.

The desserts are awesome.....

I NEVER remember it being a "Girl Only" experience...just a lot of families with different variations of kids......

I just asked DS- now 17 - the "Favorite thing about CRT" and he tells me to say....."How they stay in character....with Prince, Princesses, etc....and how they do the 'show' every so often with singing and the Fairy Godmother and Mice...".

I think CRT is for EVERYONE!

Mary

When I was planning our first trip to WDW, DS was 6 (kindergarten, spring break). With two months to plan, I was thankful that I had a little boy that wouldn't want to eat with the princesses in the castle, because I didnt think I could get an ADR. The more I thought about it though, the more I realized. IT'S THE CASTLE!!! Who wouldnt' want to eat in the castle?

I asked DS about it and of course, he, who didn't even really understand what I was talking about, wanted to eat there. And I'll admit, the more I thought about it, the more that I wanted to eat there!;)

I got the only ressie I could during our vacation, which happened to be on our last touring day for lunch.

It was the highlight of our trip.

When we went, there were SO MANY boys. Many more than I thought there would be. I was surprised. There were so many that Belle went and got herself a couple of swords so that she could have mock sword fights with all the boys.

I wrote a review of our experience:

I definitely recommend with boys!

We ate there last Oct with my 2 youngest boys (6 and 8). They enjoyed it. The boys are given words. About the princesses all I'm gonna say is Jasmine was a huge hit at our table.

We have been there twice and absolutely love it. First time my son was 9 and my DD was 7 and they had a very magical experience. My son is now 11 and says can't wait to go again in September. He absolutely loves all the attention he gets from all the princesses and and loves the atmosphere. I totally agree...I never thought of it as a "Girl thing". For us is a big family tradition...and we love it.
The food is great!:cool1:

I dragged DS12 with me on our last trip. He really enjoyed getting to meet the princesses and they were great to him. He did not particulary like the food, but the experience of eating at the castle was worth it for us.
Have a great time.

I agree, this isnt just for boys! Although we have not did it yet! LOL

My hubby actually was the one that requested eatting at the castle:confused3. So we have a ressie on May 1st for Breakfast! :lovestruc WE are ALL excited to eat in the castle, lol.

Thank you to everyone for the info. I feel much better now about taking the boys to CRT (if we get an ADR). I am pretty sure they'll enjoy it (DS6 was quite excited about the princesses on our last trip) but really worried they would be the only little boys there. So thanks for sharing your experiences with me. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that we'll get an ADR!;)

Just an idea, if they don't want to see the Princesses, then do dinner. The Fairy Godmother and mice are there for dinner. It's different than breakfast and lunch.

My boys loved dining in the castle for the first time this past Nov. We did breakfast. My DS5 kept asking if there was an elevator in the castle! :rotfl: He was so happy to be able to get to ride in it after his meal!

They loved it and can't wait to go back. This time we're trying dinner. Just to see how it differs.

Last year we went to WDW with my sil and her 2 ds. She did not want to go to CRT cause she thought it was too "girly" and her ds's (3 & 5) would hate it. After some convincing, she agreed to go. I think her boys loved it more than my girls. They loved the swords, they took pics with the princesses and my younger nephew got a big red smooch on his forhead from Snow White....It is a wonderful experience for girls & boys, children & adults.

Yes - (RE: my response above) we have NEVER gone for Breakfast....just not b'fast people....

In the (probably) 12 or so times I've been to CRT...it's been for lunch or most recently - dinner - an early dinner 4p or so.....

We get pic's with Cinderella, they call my DS "Prince", we get to cool off and wash up a bit....have a nice dinner, the Fairy Godmother with Perla and the other mice....Great time....good food.

Hugs,
Mary

If they like princesses and won't feel out of place having pretty young women fawn all over them, they will have fun.

That's why I went with my three girls! Even daddy's like to be fawned over! But I never got a sword, I feel cheated.

We went b/c my littlest son loved Cinderella... oldest "endured". The princesses were great, food good, fairy godmother came to my biys and asked them what they would wish for. While they were thinking, she slipped pixie dust (mickey sequins) in their pockets. When they found them, they were elated and they truly believed in magic the rest of the trip. Truly, I'm not sure how she did it. :wizard:
They loved it then but say it's too girly for them now ( 10 and 8). I'd say go...it's truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Boys. Well it didn't happen at CRT but I will mention the true story of a 5 year old boy at Akersus who after meeting Cindy, Belle, and Ariel, took one look at Jasmine and said "You are the prettiest one." The young woman under the Jasmine name and makeup was clearly pleased with this assessment and planted a sudden SMACK :flower3:right on that little boy's face. He was less than thrilled with that, but Jasmine was clearly lighter of step thereafter!
